It's normal for a candidate to have a bit of anxiety about an interview, but remember, you are interviewing them as well. The typical questions revolve around job duties, projects, compensation, and benefits. Equally as important are the intangibles, things that cannot be seen or touched. These were of utmost importance when I was applying for a new position. · Reputation: does this company align with your values? Is it known for excellent work? · Flexibility: do they allow you to switch up your day in the event of an outside appointment? · Respect: does this company create an atmosphere of respect from the top down? · Mentorship: will you be able to learn from the best and brightest to further your career? · Security: is this an established company that’s growth has been steady, and management has a deep understanding of the economy as it relates to their business? · Ethical: do they treat everyone honestly and do the right thing even when no one is watching? To all of my civil engineer friends, here at Hoyle Tanner, intangibles are reality! #HoyleTanner #CivilEngineeringJobs #WastewaterJobs #DrinkingWaterJobs #TransportationJobs #AviationJobs #SurveyingJobs

I help Mechanical & Electrical Engineers in achieving their dream careers | Ready to secure higher salaries and better benefits? DM for a career consultation. | Speaker
Just had a client end up with 2 job offers! Let's break down some of the things they did that made a difference! 1️⃣ The first thing that really helped was starting with strategy and clarity. We knew what kind of roles we were applying for, and what they were qualified to do. 2️⃣ We maximized their LinkedIn, resume, and other supporting branding tools. Clean headshot, great profile, achiever resume, and several other documents. 3️⃣ Networking, networking, networking! We went and talked with plenty of people. At first, they didn't know what to say or who to say it to! But with a little practice and guidance, we built a good network. 4️⃣ Serious interview prep. We ran mock interviews, prepared for commonly asked questions, strategies for different kinds of questions, and what the hiring manager wanted in each of these situations. 5️⃣ Continuously showing up. We didn't get all the jobs we went after. Sometimes it was hard, and things didn't work out! Shoutout to all the hard work that was done, and congrats on being able to pick the job you want from these two! Wish this post was about you? Are you an early career mechanical or electrical engineer? You can apply to work with me, link in the comments!

Job ghosting can have significant implications for job seekers. As a graduate civil engineer, I've faced the challenge of applying for positions, attending interviews, and then experiencing complete silence. This lack of communication disrupts career planning, creates uncertainty, and can be demoralizing. Clear and timely feedback in the hiring process is crucial to maintain a positive experience for all parties involved. #JobGhosting #Professionalism #JobSearch #Engineering
