Demonstration Test Conducted for "Hz Navi System" Energy-Saving Technology for Marine Generators    Cooperating to realize a sustainable system after confirming energy savings of approx. 10%    A demonstration test of the Hz Navi System ("Hz Navi"), which can produce energy-saving effects by lowering the frequency of the generator according to optimal specifications, was conducted on the NYK-operated bulk carrier White Princess from April 2023 to April 2024 by NYK Line ("NYK"), MTI Co., Ltd. ("MTI"), Oshima Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. ("Oshima shipbuilding"), Terasaki Electric Co., Ltd. ("Terasaki Electric") and Daihatsu Diesel MFG Co., Ltd. ("Daihatsu Diesel").    In the demonstration test, fuel consumption was measured and a safety evaluation was conducted with the Hz Navi mode (approx. 57 Hz) activated, and an energy-saving effect of approximately 10% was confirmed for the generator. No abnormalities were observed during the demonstration test, and it was confirmed that the vessel could be safely navigated.    Current generator frequencies are set so that onboard equipment such as pumps and motors, which operate in conjunction with the power supply frequency, can perform adequately even under the worst possible conditions, and operating at the normal frequency during normal navigation consumes extra power. Therefore, there was a need to develop a system that could reduce fuel consumption and quantity by lowering the frequency of generators to best match optimal specifications.    Hz Navi is a system that allows generator frequencies to be adjusted according to shipboard conditions within the range specified by ship classification rules, thereby reducing the fuel consumption of generators. This system utilizes a technology jointly patented by NYK and Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. called “generator frequency control technology” (Patent Number JP6238600), which allows the generator frequency to be switched between the regular frequency and a lower energy-saving frequency.  https://lnkd.in/dA95KpWA      舶用発電機の省エネ技術「Hz Naviシステム」の実証試験を実施    約10%の省エネ効果を確認 持続可能なシステムの実現に向け協力    日本郵船株式会社(以下「日本郵船」)、株式会社MTI(以下「MTI」)、株式会社大島造船所(以下「大島造船所」)、寺崎電気産業株式会社(以下「寺崎電気」)、ダイハツディーゼル株式会社(以下「ダイハツディーゼル」)は、23年4月から24年4月にかけて、日本郵船が運航するばら積み船の「WHITE PRINCESS」で、発電機の周波数を状況に応じ下げて省エネ効果を生み出せる「Hz Naviシステム」(ヘルツナビシステム、以下「Hz Navi」)の実証試験を行いました。    実証試験では、Hz Naviモード(約57Hz)を起動した状態での燃料消費量の計測と安全性評価を実施し、発電機において約10%の省エネ効果が確認されました。また、実証試験中に異常事態は発生せず、安全に航行が可能であることも確認できました。    現在の発電機は、供給電力の周波数に連動して動作するポンプやモーターなどの船内機器が、想定される最悪の条件下でも十分なパフォーマンスを発揮できるよう設定されており、通常航海中の常用周波数での運転は余分な電力を消費しています。そのため、状況に応じて発電機の周波数を下げることで燃料消費量を抑えられるシステムの開発が求められていました。    Hz Naviは船内の状況に応じて発電機の周波数を、船級ルールで定める範囲内で調整できるため、発電機の燃料消費量削減が可能となるシステムです。このシステムには発電機周波数制御技術という、発電機の周波数を常用周波数とそれより低い省エネ周波数の切り替えが可能となる、日本郵船と常石造船株式会社の共同特許技術(第6238600号)を活用しています。  5社は今後、Hz Naviの製品化に向けて連携を深めるとともに、より持続可能な省エネシステムの実現に向けて協力して取り組みます。  https://lnkd.in/dieUTjSF
