Proud to share that Ahlan Simsim is featured as a case study and resource on mainstreaming disability inclusion into programs for children and families. Thank you Disability Reference Group (drg) and huge thank you to Sesame Workshop and International Rescue Committee colleagues and to our amazing funders MacArthur Foundation and The LEGO Foundation. https://lnkd.in/erhg5zkx This is a product of the Sesame Workshop-IRC partnership and in particular big efforts by Maria del Sol Prieto Bayona, Maram Shahin, Samina Singh and Marianne Stone and Heidi Rosbe (among many others at IRC). The world building of Ameera was a beautiful and enormous effort and was not possible without Scott Cameron, Estee Bardanashvili, Katie Stuller, Tazwell Caputo, Dina Masri, Shanna Kohn and Kim Foulds. It is truly the Sesame Workshop model in action where our Production, Research, and Education colleagues work together so wonderfully. So thankful also for the contributions and guidance from our advisor Suzanne Zuidema. HUGE shout out to Marina Gabriel for her tireless program management effort on this case study and to Savannah Soter for being vital to making it happen. Rene Celaya leadership, passion and commitment was a driving force as well as Mousa Naji support and skills. Ameera and our disability work would not be possible without the trusted philanthropy and invaluable partnership and support of Kristen J. Molyneaux, Ph.D. at Lever for Change and MacArthur Foundation. The belief and support by Anita Anastacio and LEGO Foundation helped bring all of this to life. #sesameworkshop #irc #ahlansimsim #disability #ecd

Come explore the Play to Learn Resource Hub with us on October 9 in a webinar with INEE! The Play to Learn Resource Hub is a freely available set of early childhood development (ECD) program materials, print and multi-media, monitoring tools, technical resources, and research that we curated for fellow practitioners who work with young children (and their families) affected by conflicts and crisis. (https://bit.ly/3ZH8nGr) The Play to Learn project had a large scope, serving over 2.5 million people with direct services and reaching 31 million children with educational broadcast over the past six years with support from the LEGO Foundation. Here’s a peek at four of the contextually-driven programs we’ll profile next week: (1) The Be Ready, Be Strong Program provides activities, workbooks, and materials to children and caregivers in Turkey and Syria to support wellbeing and development in emergency situations. (https://lnkd.in/gpESXGmT) (2) The Gindegi Goron Program uses a hybrid approach to reach Rohingya and Bangladeshi families with integrated ECD, health, and nutrition content. (https://lnkd.in/gw9tQ2QJ) (3) The Humanitarian Play Labs use play to preserve cultural heritage for Rohingya children, in addition to supporting holistic early childhood development. The curriculum also has the flexibility to include new topic areas like climate change awareness and appreciation for the environment. (https://lnkd.in/gaqNrjSn) (4) The Semillas de Apego Program uses playful media as a tool to help caregivers practice emotional regulation skills with their children at home, in between sessions that provide caregivers with the knowledge and skills they need to rebuild nurturing relationships.
