The Deepwater company signs another mega deal for the former fleet Rig of the Year Transocean and bp have signed a tasty deal for the Ultra Deepwater juggernaut the Deepwater Invictus. The $531 million contract expected to last 1,095-days, in the GOM, starting 1st Quater 2025. The contract will be subject to slight variations of day rates with supplimentals such as MPD. Coming in at a nudge under 500K/Day, more great news for the offshore market as longer more valuable contracts now the norm. Deepwater should remain unchallenged as the ROI “sure thing” especially as we move into those unchartered waters of crazy elections and uncertainty. One thing is certain, happier days are here to stay👊👊😎 Congratulations to all concerned and safe operations… #oilandgas #innovation #management #engineering

Day Rates are Clearly Improving… The Transocean Deepwater Åsgard wins contract extensions in the Gulf of Mexico. Hess Corporation have agreed to approximately one year or 365 Days (as quoted, don’t know why they say that, we know what a year is) extension to the Drillships existing contract. A nice $188 million in backlog, including additional services will keep the unit working in GOM until June 2026 in a continous movement from its existing deal. The previous contract extension on Deepwater Asgard drillship was quoted in April 2024 for day rate of $505/Day. Transocean clearly in control of its finances and as we have seen the juggernaut thin out some of its fleet it’s clearly looking to keep in the biggest game in town which continues to be Deepwater. Good luck to all and congratulations to all concerned, Drillers Shack wishes all the hands to stay safe and on the ball and we wish all the #management smooth operations. #oilandgas #offshore #drilling #innovation #broseidon

Transocean Deepwater Asgard has been awarded a 365 Day contract extension with Operator Hess Corporation the US based O&G Company. The multi million dollar extension for continued work in the Gulf of Mexico GOM The extension is expected to begin in June 2024 as part of its continued current campaign with the oil Giant. While the total contract value is approximately $195 million, this includes a $10.9 million lump sum payment, which is not included in the estimated backlog of around $184 million. The 2014-built Deepwater Asgard ultra-deepwater dual-activity drillship a DSME 12000 Spec unit. According to Transocean’s fleet status report from February 2024, the drillship has been on a day rate of $440,000 since April 2023. The rig’s previous day rate was $395,000. The healthy day rates are a continuation of the current industries healthy position as the 500K/Day looks to be an achievable and sustainable benchmark for the high end units. #drilling #drillship #oilandgas #drillersshack

This is what a laydown area for an offshore windfarm looks like. This one near Vlissingen, Westerschelde (Netherlands), ready to be installed at one of the Borselle Offshore windfarms. The actual scale is hard to visualise. Imagine the port area required for just one windfarm. And the loading on the Quay. I count about a hundred transition pieces. The approximate number for a 1.5 GB windfarm. Also ten monopiles. These are babies (in less than 30m water depth is my guess). Some installation vessels can be seen in the background, alongside a MODU (Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit, also called semi-submersible) recognised by the large drilling tower used to drill a subsea oil well). Hereby an overview of the construction steps: https://lnkd.in/gwy--WJt

Converting unconventional wells from annular-flow to tubing-flow is expensive. This operator aimed to use their existing completion with an annular-flow strategy—cutting costs and avoiding the need for different artificial lift methods. See how this strategy reduced OPEX and workover costs now. https://lnkd.in/gWRH3dnv

▶️ @swellcontrol A surface BOP, or surface burst preventer, is a critical equipment used in the drilling of oil and gas wells to control unexpected pressures and prevent bursts (uncontrolled bursts). Unlike underwater BOPs, which are installed in the sea bed, surface BOPs are placed on the surface, usually on a land or marine drilling platform.
