If they can’t scale their UAS operations how can we scale as one of their suppliers? Training and certificate programs in the region add immediate value to enterprise organizations spanning across all of their business units. Welcome to Springville 🏘️🏫 As part of our partnership with The Careers & Enterprise Company we're introducing year 7 & 8 students to experiences of the workplace through Springville - an engaging town-style platform where the class (led by their teacher) can jump between different buildings to find out more about the careers and pathways in different sectors. How will it work? 🛫 In the Airport, for example, they'll find out about careers such as an Aerospace Engineer and an Ecologist and hear directly from some of our Career Experts sharing their experiences. ✏️ The teacher will find a fully resourced lesson with engaging activities, many of which link directly to a scenario or task that might be carried out in the workplace. There's also a hospital, an arts centre, tech office, leisure centre and more, and behind every building is an exciting careers lesson ready to inspire students and support teachers. And that's not all... ℹ️ In addition, we also have a live webinar series - hosted in the Speakers' Corner - where students can ask questions to our Career Experts. These webinars will be taking place on Wednesdays during May and June at various times throughout the school day. Quite an interesting read. The fight between formal education and real-world experience is still extremely strong. 4 Years of College or 4 Years of Experience? What direction do you take? Who would you hire? Curious how hiring practices across large US firms will change due to continuously changing market conditions. The exercise of mandating a degree has been an extended habit of the workforce. The devaluation of the college degree is a risk. As a recruiter, I would like to see more hiring practices surrounded by relevant work experience rather than a degree. #hiring #labormarket
Some big-names firms have dropped degree requirements for new hires. But they're still picking candidates that have college educations. Bank of America and Lockheed Martin are falling short on promises to hire more workers without college degrees, according to a new report. They're among the 45% of large US firms that declared a college degree unnecessary for many roles and then didn’t change their hiring practices, according to an analysis from Harvard Business School and Burning Glass Institute, a labor-focused nonprofit. Another 18% of companies — including Delta Air Lines — made progress early on, only to revert to old patterns later.

I saw a commercial about this last night, and I was so excited! This movement, Tear the Paper Ceiling, advocates for the millions of workers who have in-demand skills, or amazing experience, but get turned down for jobs, promotions, or are overlooked for higher paying jobs because they lack a Bachelor's Degree. With the cost of college increasing an average of 65% between 2001 and 2021, it's time the workforce and K-12 education system stop pushing college degrees as the indicator to a person's ability to succeed in a career. With rapid change in job skills, employers don't have time to waste waiting for candidates to earn a degree - not to mention by the time a person graduates, who knows if the skill or certifications will still be relevant. If you've been following me for long, you likely know I believe building a workforce through an apprenticeship model is the way for our workforce to stay competitive, and to build the economic stability of individuals... and this is coming from someone who has a Bachelor's Degree, but what makes me a great trainer is my enthusiasm, passion, and desire to help people grow - I didn't get any of that in a college classroom!
