🌱🐟 Cultivated meat and seafood offer incredible transparency in their production process. Here's a quick rundown: 🔬 Starting Point: Cultivated meat and seafood begin with a single cell from a traceable, documented animal. This means you can know exactly which animal your meat came from. 👀 #Traceability: From start to finish, the entire process is transparent. You can even meet the animal that provided the cells! Imagine eating a steak or seafood where the original animal is still alive and well, acting as a sort of mascot. 🔍 Regulatory Requirements: This high level of #transparency is essential for meeting regulatory standards. Authorities need to know the origin of the cells and the health of the animal they came from. 👍 #Consumer Confidence: This transparency helps build consumer confidence. Knowing the exact source of your food ensures trust and peace of mind. Have you watched Eating Our Way To Extinction? It’s a really great, thought provoking film. The statistics have sources, the graphics are simple and impactive. Whilst the focus is on the damage done through food production it also talks about some positives - including the wonderful Ecosia For me the section on farmed fish was particularly interesting - I had no idea of the huge amounts of chemicals that are used daily in open water. To me, knowledge is power. I eat meat and fish and I also have animals that need feeding. But knowing what goes on, for example with soy production for animal feed, helps me make choices that I am comfortable with. #sustainableagriculture #aquaculture #agriculture #foodchoices #sustainableeating #betterbusiness https://lnkd.in/eySmGceK

Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow! 🤩 Just look at that deep red color! To the outside world, we often describe our product as "meat juice", giving #plantbased products the same taste as real meat. 🥩 Although no animals are involved in our #brewing process, our proteins are 100% identical to what you find in real animal meat. 💪🏻 We're currently scaling our production 🎢 to be able to brew more and more of our crucial "juice", ultimately aiming to convince more people to switch to tasty #altproteins. Watch as another trial batch is readied for application to all sorts of plant-based products. 🌱👇🏻 #SameTaste #DifferentStory #Foodtech

A day at the #abattoir series... Episode 4. When it comes to purchasing meat, there is need to consider the quality and taste, as well as other public health factors that may affect the meat. The way meat is produced, processed, and handled can have significant implications for #publichealth. In this post, we will explore some key public health issues to consider when buying meat and offer tips on making informed choices to protect your health and well-being. 1. The Source: Purchase meat from trusted sources such as reputable butcher shops, farmers' markets, #abattoirs or grocery stores with a good reputation for quality meats. 2. Color: Check the color of the meat. It should be bright and vibrant, with no signs of discoloration or browning. 3. Smell: Take a whiff of the #meat. It should have a fresh, neutral odor. Avoid meat that has a strong or off-putting smell, even offals don't have to smell bad if properly processed. 4. Texture: Press the meat with your finger to check its firmness and texture. It should be firm to the touch and not feel overly soft or mushy or soggy. 5. #Certifications: All animals slaughtered from government owned abattoirs or slaughter slabs gets a meat certificate . Ask your butcher or meat seller for his certificate. A knowledgeable seller should be able to provide you with valuable information. 6. #AnimalWelfare: While not a direct public health issue, animal welfare is an important consideration when buying meat. Animals raised in #humane conditions are less stressed and less prone to disease, which can have implications for food safety and quality. Supporting #ethical and humane animal farming practices can contribute to a more sustainable and #healthier #food system. Image copied.

I don't eat five burgers a week (although that sounds dreamy), but I enjoy animal protein daily. Three things are of utmost importance to me: Quality Profitable ranches and happy animals Sustainability After speaking with ButcherBox founder Mike Salguero, I know that BB checks all of these boxes. ButcherBox visits the farms and fisheries to ensure quality. They know the farmers and fishermen and pay them fairly. They contract with small farms and fisheries to ensure smaller harvests and, thus, sustainability. It's no secret how I feel about ButcherBox, and I got to sit down with Mike, the founder. I'm always interested to understand a person's WHY. WHY did you start that business, or WHY do you feel that way about a topic? His WHY made me a bit emotional. His wife was ill, and they were trying to find grass-fed beef for the recommended anti-inflammatory diet. They couldn't do it, so they bought half a cow! They couldn't eat it all, so they sold the meat to friends, and ButcherBox was born. Mike is a visionary who genuinely wants to make high-quality protein available to everyone, no matter their budget. Give today's podcast a listen! HEY EVERYONE, THIS CURRENT DEAL @butcherbox IS OVER ON AUGUST 3RD! Sadly, I don't think you'll have an opportunity for FREE salmon, chicken thighs, or NY strips until 2025. Sign up today at butcherbox.com/enos and GET 2 lbs of wild-caught Alaskan sockeye salmon FREE in every order for a year.+ $30 off your first order using code "enos" #alaskansalmon #antiinflammatorydiet #antiinflammatoryfood #butcherbox #nutrientdense #nutritious #lowcaloriediet #greatdeal #bigdiscount #healthyfoodchoices #organicfood #offer #combodeals #butcherboxpartner #grassfed

We know that meat has problems: for the planet, for animals, and for our health. We’re here to solve them with more meat (from plants). In our latest ad campaign, we brought our meat from plants to life with an Americana feel to challenge the preconceived notions of what makes meat ‘meat’ — showing the world that plants can also make for delicious, nutrient-dense meat. Thank you to Erich and Kallman and Horizon Media for helping us bring our meaty campaign to the table ❤️🍴🥩 Read more on how we’re solving the meat problem with more meat via Ad Age:

Are plant-based hot dogs missing the mark? 🌱🌭 NECTAR's 2024 report, the world's largest sensory analysis of plant-based meats, found that: 1️⃣ Plant-based hot dogs received significantly lower ratings than animal-based ones. 2️⃣ 91% rated the animal-based hot dog 'just about right' in meatiness compared to only 18% for plant-based. 🫠 3️⃣ Participants want plant-based hot dogs to be meatier, juicier, and smokier. Even the leading plant-based hot dog falls short, with major opportunities for R&D in flavor, texture, and appearance. The average plant-based hot dog was rated 'dislike very much' by 41% of participants. 😬 On the bright side, other categories like plant-based nuggets seem to be on par with animal nuggets. 😌 NECTAR's mission is to accelerate the protein transition toward a humane and sustainable food system. Let's bridge the taste gap! Food designers, you know what to do! #FoodTech #PlantBased #FoodInnovation
