The necessary traits of a good CEO include vision, critical thinking skills, decisiveness, experience, trustworthiness, passion, and inspiration.
Those CEOs who excel in the role define, build, and protect their organization's culture. A formal definition of 'organizational culture' is the underlying beliefs, assumptions, values, and ways of interacting that contribute to an organization's unique social and psychological environment.
Culture is always top-down, never bottom-up. Culture will encourage personal and professional growth, or it will kill it. Culture is an organization's 'secret sauce' or a poison pill. It's the CEO who, ultimately, defines and cultivates the company's culture.
