Eight years ago today, 49 people lost their lives in an attack against the LGBTQ+ community at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. We honor them and their families by standing up - to hate and violence, homophobia and transphobia, ignorance and fear - whenever we can. #PulseNightOfRemembrance #PulseNightclub

🌈 It's International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Let's stand together and continue to educate ourselves on how we can best support the LGBTQ+ community, and work towards a world free from discrimination and prejudice. As part of our commitment, we asked university students, "How can brands better support the LGBTQ+ community". These insights underscore the significant role brands play in advocating for and supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Let’s take these insights to heart and continue to strive for inclusivity and equality in all that we do. 🧡 #IDAHOBIT2024

"One in three LGBTQ+ have experienced homeless displacement in their lifetime compared to one in five in 2019. Of the respondents who indicated that they experienced homelessness or displacement, the most common reason for their experience was being forced by family members because of their LGBTQ+ identity." We need more tolerance and education for LGBTQ+ needs, starting at HOME. Too many LGBTQ+ Jamaicans have been displaced at some point in their life, simply for being who they are! What are your thoughts? The full survey report is available in the resources section of our website - equalityjamaica.org #IDAHOT #DAHOTWeek2024 #EqualityForAll #EFAF25

Join me today in signing The Human Rights Campaign “Come Out Against Hate” pledge. LGBTQIA+ 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️💕✨ visibility and allyship is more important now than ever before in our nation’s 🇺🇸 and world’s 🌍 history. I will elevate LGBTQIA+ voices and not be complacent: the facts, the statistics, the data, the scientific publications do not lie: the collateral damage is thousands upon thousands upon thousands of young LGBTQIA+ human lives at stake here. I want to state this as clearly as possible to any LGBTQIA+ person: You are valuable, you are worthwhile, you are special, you are amazing, and you are perfect just as you are right now in this very moment, and also who you are becoming and growing into with each and every passing day - do not let a single soul tell you otherwise 🤗💞🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️🌈✨ Read the following The Trevor Project documentation of the studies: ❗️41% of LGBTQIA+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year. ❗️56% of LGBTQIA+ youth who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get the resources they need. ❗️A majority of young LGBTQIA+ people are being bullied and harassed at school ❗️Nearly 1 in 3 LGBTQIA+ young people said their mental health was poor most of the time or always due to anti-LGBTQIA+ policies and legislation https://lnkd.in/eVjkcEmG This is going to be a full on team effort. Let’s fight this climate of hate with love💞, together. #LGBTQIA #LGBTQ #LGBTQEquality #LGBTQRIGHTS #allyship #inclusion #representation #DEIB #Diversity The Trevor Project The Human Rights Campaign

June is PRIDE month, and protecting LGBTQ+ youth from the risks involved with substance-use disorder (SUD) and addiction is paramount. According to SAHMSA, about one third of bisexual males, bisexual females, and gay males had an SUD in the past year. About one fourth of lesbian females had an SUD in the past year. These are just a few proven steps you can take to help prevent substance-use disorder in LGBTQ+ youth, whether you are an educator, service-provider, or just a friend. In the face of ongoing challenges for LGBTQ+ individuals, a pivotal issue takes center stage - the looming possibility of funding cuts that could undermine LGBTQ community centers. The repercussions of this potential setback extend beyond their physical spaces, striking at the heart of our society and directly impacting the LGBTQ+ community. Without these centers, vital support for struggling LGBTQ+ youth and essential programs addressing healthcare disparities and providing safe havens could disappear. The positive impact on mental well-being, community cohesiveness, and fostering a sense of belonging might suffer a significant blow. Denise Spivak, CEO of CenterLink, highlights this pressing matter with a resounding statement: "Stripping funding from LGBTQ community centers is unconscionable, dangerous, and cannot be allowed to happen." Denise Spivak's insight underscores the profound significance of these centers in our lives. Our response must be resolute and united. Let's stand together to safeguard LGBTQ+ centers, preserving their role as beacons of hope and inclusion. To gain a comprehensive understanding of this urgent issue, read the full article here: .https://lnkd.in/eiQ3xUaV Join us in taking action to protect the heart of our community.
