Assume today you will be fired, and your laptop will be bricked. This message is for every employee. Every single one. Every role. I don't care.... ▶ how long you worked at your employer ▶ if you just got back from President’s Club ▶ if you just got a promotion and pay increase ▶ if you are the top performer in your company ▶ if you just got a performance-based equity grant ▶ if you just had a baby or announced a pregnancy ▶ what your job title is or how irreplaceable you are ▶ if leadership just publicly praised you in the company ▶ if you just closed the biggest deal in the company history ▶ how many times you’ve been to the CEOs house for dinner ▶ if you have a sick family member in hospice and request leave ▶ if you are one of the longest tenured employees in the company ▶ if your success has added $25m in enterprise value to the company You are at risk of being blind-sided with a termination and need to be prepared for it. You’ve got nothing to lose by doing so and will thank your lucky stars if you did. Everything I have listed up here is something someone I worked with or spoke to has experienced and was caught off guard and feeling regret. Don’t think for a moment that it can’t happen to you. This is not a post to scare you. It is a post to open your eyes and be prepared for what could happen. Change the lens you look through life. Be prepared and do not allow yourself to be taken advantage of. Put yourself in the best position to stand up and fight back if need be.

We commonly use the term: man-hour. Behind this term lies a great concept. Most people generally know of manpower. But have you thought about man-hour? What is a man-hour? All agree that every man gets an invaluable asset every day in the form of 24 hours of time. So, millions of people over the world keep using their time round the clock and yet the total amount of time in a day is only 24 hours. But if we think a little deeper, we realise that if one man has 24 hours a day, then two men will have 48 hours a day and a hundred men will have 2400 hours a day! Therefore, if the Chief Guest or the Honourable Minister arrives one hour late to a function attended by 1000 people, the Chief Guest can be said to have virtually 'killed' 1000 hours! Though it may sound odd, it is true. The world abounds with such large-scale massacre time, everywhere, all the time! And what about those people who have little respect for time and who 'kill' time all through their lives? Alas! Time simply swallows them, sucking them up into a kind of emptiness. So, before it is too late, let us wake up. Let us start by respecting time. Let us use our common sense, plan well, but time to right and good use and make most of the time allotted to us by life. It is therefore essential to find out the right means to gain hold over our time. This is the only way to achieve anything really great and worthwhile in our lives-the only way to achieve greatness.
