🌍 Today is International Plastic Bag Free Day (or in German "Internationaler Plastiktütenfreier Tag")! 🌍 I’m excited to share how important environmental protection is to Germany and its people. Today, on International Plastic Bag Free Day, let’s celebrate some of the steps Germany has taken to reduce plastic waste: 1. No More Plastic Bags: Many stores in Germany have stopped giving out plastic bags to encourage the use of reusable ones. 2. Bottle or Coffee Cup Deposit System: Plastic bottles or some coffee cups in Germany come with a deposit (Pfand) that you get back when you return the bottle/cup. This encourages recycling and reduces waste. 3. Innovative Packaging: Many products are now available in biodegradable or reusable packaging. Tips to Reduce Plastic Waste: - Bring your own reusable bags when shopping. - Use refillable water bottles and coffee cups. - Choose products with minimal or eco-friendly packaging. - Support local markets that use sustainable practices. What about you? How do you reduce plastic waste in your daily life? Share your tips and let’s inspire each other to make a difference! 🌱💪 #PlasticBagFreeDay #sustainability #gogreen #reduceplasticwaste #germanygoesgreen #umweltschutz #Umweltfreundlich #germanlanguage #learngerman

⏰ REMINDER‼️ Plastic Free July is meant to be a time to acknowledge our use of plastic and challenge ourselves to find ways to reduce and refuse it, not to shame ourselves about not being able to perfectly remove all the plastic from our lives!!!! I have an interesting relationship with Plastic Free July, similar to my relationship with the Zero Waste movement. I feel like the message gets lost in the perfectionism of using the words “zero” and “free”, when it’s only meant to be a challenge and a goal to reach. How cool would it be to go plastic free for a whole month or make zero waste for the rest of our lives? Ultimately, going plastic free or creating zero waste is challenging in our world today, and down right impossible for many people around the world. So, for this Plastic Free July, I’m challenging myself to: ☕️ bring reusable cups + containers to coffee shops and restaurants 🍴bring my own silverware and refuse single-use utensils 🪒 continue to not buying plastic razors and using my stainless steel razor and recyclable blades 🧼 continue to use my refillable deodorant (it last forever, I haven’t needed a new shipment in so long!) 🫱🏽🫲🏻 remember that Plastic Free July is a time to be conscious of our plastic consumption and relationship to plastic, not to shame ourselves for the inevitable use of plastic sometime in July. It’s a time for practice in reduction, not perfection in elimination. ⁉️ How are you celebrating or acknowledging Plastic Free July? #plasticfreejuly #refillrevolution #reducereuserecycle #plasticfreeliving #choosetoruse #plasticfree #reduceplastic #reduceplasticwaste #zerowaste #lowwaste #lowwasteliving #plasticpollution #reusable #emotionalsupportwaterbottle #singleuse

3rd of July: International Plastic Bag-Free Day! Today, we recognize the profound impact of plastic pollution and reaffirm our commitment to a sustainable future. As professionals in the tourism industry, we have a responsibility to lead the way in reducing plastic waste and protecting our planet. ♻ Plastic bags are among the most ubiquitous and harmful pollutants. By eliminating single-use plastics, we can significantly reduce our environmental footprint and promote a culture of sustainability within tourism. 🌿 Did you know? • Switching to reusable bags can cut down plastic waste by millions of tons annually. • Plastic pollution affects soil quality, leading to reduced agricultural productivity. • Burning plastic waste releases toxic chemicals into the air, contributing to air pollution and respiratory problems. • Microplastics, resulting from the breakdown of plastic bags, contaminate our food and water supply, posing health risks to humans and wildlife. 🔍 What can you do? • Always carry reusable bags when shopping to avoid using plastic ones. • Switch to reusable produce bags for fruits and vegetables. • Buy in bulk to minimize packaging waste and reduce the need for plastic bags. • Use glass or silicone containers instead of plastic bags for food storage. • Ensure that any plastic bags you use are recycled correctly by taking them to designated recycling points. 🌍 Let’s make every day a step towards a plastic-free world. Together, we can drive change and ensure that our beautiful destinations remain unspoiled for generations to come. #PlasticBagFreeDay #SustainableLiving #EcoFriendly #ReduceReuseRecycle #PlasticFree #GreenInitiative #Sustainability #SustainableTourism #Travelife

It is World Water Day! The issue of microplastic pollution in our oceans and waterways has become a significant problem. The Seven & i Group is tackling this issue and implementing several initiatives to reduce plastic waste. As one example of actively promoting the reduction of plastic use in our products, Seven-Eleven Japan has changed plastic straws that are handed to customers at stores to environmentally friendly paper and biodegradable materials. We have also identified the opportunity to transition the containers for refrigerated lunchboxes to paper containers. For another example, we have been able to reduce plastic in the Cup Deli series by 30% through the use of a sealing system instead of plastic lids. (Cup Deli is a popular product series of ready-made dishes as well as easy and handy salads.) In the longer term, we would like to achieve zero plastic shopping bags at our stores by 2030. We also aim to use environmentally friendly materials for the containers of our original products, reaching 50% by 2030 and 100% by 2050. At the Seven & i Group, we involve our suppliers in trying to share our eco-friendly initiatives with our suppliers and value their assistance in moving towards our goals. We also believe that our customers’ support is also crucial in overcoming the challenges. We will remain committed to communicating our awareness of the issues with all concerned parties and taking every step that we can to address them. Share this post to raise awareness of the issue and to promote the protection of our waters! #worldwaterday

Plastic is not the problem. We are. For example - plastic bags are considered as a classic innovation - they are convenient and lightweight. But somewhere along the line, things got a little...out of hand. Our over dependence on plastic bags has turned this innovation into an environmental headache. But, there's hope. The European Parliament's new packaging waste regulations aim to reduce packaging waste by 15% per capita in each member state by 2040, significantly impacting plastic bag usage and leading to a more sustainable future. The Indian government to has initated policies to end plastic disposal on land and water, promoting policies and initiatives to reduce plastic waste and encourage eco-friendly alternatives. Started as a global initiative to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic bags on our ecosystems, International Plastic Bag Free Day emphasizes the need for sustainable practices in everyday life. Today, let’s acknowledge the progress we’ve made and commit to further reducing our plastic footprint and commit to avoiding plastic bags. "Support" this post if you agree! #InternationalPlasticBagFreeDay #Sustainable #PlasticFreeJuly

[📢 Let's #breakfree from disposable plastics!] Have you ever thought that there is no real connection between the things you buy and disposable plastic🤔? Many of the "associations" we take for granted can actually be "broken free"! When you go to the supermarket to buy groceries, you don't necessarily have to use plastic bags, you can choose to use #ecofriendlybags instead. When you want to buy a cold drink during summer, you don't really need a plastic bottle or cup, you can bring your own #reusablecup instead. And when ordering takeout, you can bring your own #foodcontainer to pack the meal! #Plastic is second largest contributor to municipal solid waste. Among them, the 3 main types are plastic bags, plastic utensils, and plastic bottles. Joining forces with our ambassadors, including Chan Hoi-wan, Gigi Leung, Yvette Kong, Cheung Ka-long, Kam Sing Wong, as well as members of the Hong Kong Fencing Team Choi Chun-yin, Ng Lok-wang, Nicholas Edward Choi and Yeung Tsz-ka💪, we urge the public to "break free” from disposable plastics and contribute to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation🌍!

💚Plastic Free July: Make the Swap for a Sustainable Future ☕️ At home my first coffee helps me metamorphosis from “barely awake” to.. well.. if I do say so myself.. quite on fire 😉☕️🔥 when I’m out for coffee it’s a keep cup for me, baristas will happily rinse & repeat, or I relish the opportunity to sit down & sit in for 5 and cherish the coffee ritual with the provided crockery which is a magical moment in itself. It’s Plastic Free July, so it's the perfect time to reassess our daily habits and consider more sustainable choices. One simple yet impactful change is swapping out single-use takeaway coffee cups for your own reusable keep cup and BYO water bottle for plastic free refills. This small shift can significantly reduce plastic waste, which is crucial for a healthier planet. 🧴For Sustainable Salons members, Plastic Free July aligns perfectly with our commitment to reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices. Our community is dedicated to recycling and repurposing materials to create a circular economy. This initiative also connects with our plastic recycling programs, where we turn plastic waste into valuable resources. Refusing single-use plastics in daily life can be simple and impactful. Here are some practical ways to get started: 🛍️Bring Your Own Bags - as a community we have gotten really good at this! 💦☕️🍴Reusable Water Bottles, Keep Cups & Refuse Plastic Cutlery & Straws - carry them with you 🍄🟫Opt for Plastic Free fruit & Veg - Purchase food and other products loose in the packing nature provided to reduce packaging waste. Refuse unnecessary packing. Bring your own dedicated reusable fruit/veg bag to your store and market and ditch the wrapping 🍝Lunch Containers - BYO lunch, Use reusable lunch boxes and wraps instead of plastic bags or cling film & use up leftovers from home 🪩Plastic-Free Parties - Host events with reusable plates, cups, and utensils instead of disposable ones or ask guests to BYO cup - and promote amongst guests radical self reliance 🏃♂️Advocate - Support businesses and policies that aim to reduce plastic waste and encourage others to make sustainable choices like Sustainable Salons Each small change can add up to a significant reduction in plastic waste, helping to protect our environment for future generations. #plasticfreejuly #keepcup #sustainablesalons #bethechange
