🚊 Regional School of Public Administration and Transport Community Green Mobility Summer School  📅 2-5 July 2024 | 📍 #Pristina 🌲 Experts and stakeholders from the Western Balkans, observing participants, and the EU gathered to explore #innovative sustainable mobility solutions, exchange knowledge, and strengthen capacities necessary for developing #sustainable, #intelligent, #resilient, and #ecofriendly transport infrastructure and operations. 🗣 The event kicked off with inspiring speeches from H.E. Tomáš Szunyog, EU Special Representative, Ljupka Siljanoska, Deputy Director, TCT and our colleague Ivana Petricevic 🎯 Key #discussions focused on the EU’s #strategies for green and smart mobility in the Western Balkans; #intersections of transport, energy, and environmental #policies and sustainable urban mobility planning. 💡 Participants delved into: ✔ Sustainable and smart mobility for the Western Balkans; ✔ Digital logistics along core corridors and on the national level and sustainable urban logistics plans; ✔ Infrastructure funding structures, and mechanisms (IPA, WBIF, New Growth Plan) ✔ Climate-proofing and resilient infrastructure The practical exploration of urban mobility projects in Pristina provided invaluable insights into real-world applications of sustainable solutions. ✳ Together with our partners, we will continue paving the way for a greener, more sustainable future in our region by supporting the strengthening of the capacities of public servants making green mobility in the Western Balkans a reality! 🔹 INSPIRE Interreg Europe Regional Stakeholder Meeting 🔹 On September 10th, our German partners held their first meeting of the regional stakeholder group in Frankfurt as part of the INSPIRE Interreg Europe project. With representatives from politics and especially including the Lahn-Dill-Wetzlar region, they explored the potential of the Smart Village concept and its relevance for rural development in Hesse.🌍 The discussions highlighted a shared consensus: Smart Villages present a promising opportunity to drive innovation and growth in rural areas. How Can Foundations Support the Climate-Neutrality of 100 Cities? 112 European cities are paving the way towards climate-neutrality by 2030, and foundations can provide a unique contribution to this journey, through their capacity to engage stakeholders, take risks and think long-term, as well as to provide additional funds and investments. Philea and Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo will host “How Can Foundations Support the Climate-Neutrality of 100 Cities?” on 27 May in Ghent, bringing together foundations interested in addressing the critical issue of climate-neutrality in European cities by 2030. 🌟 Keep up with Re-Place 5 project objetives 🌟 🔍Second Objective: Examine the (im)mobility drivers and perpetuation of movement to and from different types of Left Behind Areas, as well as assessing ensuing spatial, economic, social, and cultural transformations 💡 Why It Matters: It's crucial for Re-Place project to understand what motivates populations to move, in order to change the perspective on how society perceives Left Behind Areas. Urban nature-based solutions are advocated globally, as an answer to various sustainability challenges. Yet which actors and dynamics shape their translation to the African context remains unclear. This paper, led by Katharina Rochell and co-authored by Harriet Bulkeley and me, explores the global-to-local translation process of frames through interventions funded by transnational actors, conceptualised as agents of policy transfer. The second paper of Katharina's PhD thesis on Nature-based solutions in African urban contexts: assessing the potential for enhancing resilience.

🌱Read our latest report to explore a world reshaped by green and digital 🖥️ The report ‘Driving a Just Twin Transition’ summarises the discussions held in the 2023 Policy Lab for France and Poland and presents its key takeaways. Here is a snapshot of what you will find: ➡️ The unique approaches taken by France and Poland to steer a sustainable and just Twin Transition, from the French plan ‘France Green Nation" to the Polish comprehensive ‘National Urban Policy 2030’ 🌍 The keynote speech from Kathrine Jensen, who presented the Twin Transition with a foresight approach, emphasising the need for integrated and human-centred policymaking. 🤝 Discussions on securing the inclusion of inhabitants and local businesses along the transition, with insights from Poznan, Nevers, and the French National Agency for Territorial Cohesion highlighting the importance of community involvement and skill development.
