Why Moving to More Intimate Gatherings is the Best Trend of 2024! If you're in the event space, you know that the drop-off rate for open RSVP events can now exceed 70%. That's wild! 🤯 Combine that with the stress and anxiety of organizing large events, and it's no wonder I've started opting for smaller (100 person), more intimate invite-only dinners (20 people max), lunches, or happy hours. For organizers, it's much less stressful. After all, why put yourself through something if it’s going to be a headache? Smaller gatherings are where meaningful connections happen. They are more curated, bringing together people connected by a specific theme or industry. This shift isn't about exclusivity—it's about fostering genuine connections and building a community with care and calm. As an attendee or organizer, are you leaning towards big or small events in 2024? Also, who wants to host a meal with me? Let me know! 🤪 Shout out to this great lunch I attended during Vidcon hosted by Ben Relles where I got to catch up with old creator friends and meet new ones 🫶 Cherie Brooke Luo Joe Penna Bernie Su Rosie N. As we approach the holidays, my husband and I enjoy looking at all the community events happening around us. We try to attend at least one each weekend—not only to support local businesses but to make new connections and engage with the people who make our community special. Today's lesson from 52 Lessons from It’s a Wonderful Life by Bob Welch really resonates with this idea: Lesson 13: Find Your Own Bedford Falls Wherever You Live In Bedford Falls, the town in It’s a Wonderful Life, there’s a shared history and pride—a collective concern for both the place and the people. It’s easy to see why that kind of community feels so special. It’s a big part of what makes Hallmark movies so successful; almost every one of them creates its own version of Bedford Falls. But today, with remote work, online shopping, and delivery services, it can be easy to feel disconnected from the place we live. It’s more convenient than ever to stay in our own bubble, but the truth is, the opportunities to connect with our communities are still out there—we just have to be intentional about seeking them. So, I ask: What community event could you attend this season? Or, even better, what event could you organize with your work team to help support and connect with the people in your version of Bedford Falls? Let's make an effort to support that sense of belonging and pride, both as individuals and as businesses. After all, the heart of any community are the people who choose to be a part of it. 💗

The Joys of Building Community Through Events There’s something magical about watching an event come to life, the laughter, the connections, the shared moments that leave people with memories they’ll cherish forever. As someone who loves creating events for my community, I find immense joy in seeing those smiles and hearing those stories. But behind the scenes, it’s a rollercoaster of challenges. Every successful event has its fair share of hurdles, unexpected "fires" to put out, last-minute changes, and keeping everything aligned with the budget. It's not always glamorous, but that's where I thrive. I love the thrill of problem-solving under pressure, of turning chaos into calm and making it all look seamless from the outside. It’s about blending creativity, organization, and adaptability to craft something beautiful for others. When it all comes together, I feel a deep sense of pride. It’s not just about the event itself, it’s about the journey to get there. The behind-the-scenes team effort, the quick decisions, and the small wins along the way. Here’s to building community, one event at a time.
