Each month, we celebrate our work anniversaries through our Milestone Program, but rarely do we get to celebrate such a significant achievement as 30 years! On this day in 1994, our current CEO Keith Wolken hired Cecil Sloley. Since then, Cecil has managed countless transitions, accounts, programs, and employees at Service Management Systems. Though he has seen a lot of change over three decades, a few things remain the same – his embodiment of our 12 core values and “Whatever it Takes!” motto, his passion and commitment to seeing our company succeed, and his investment in his team and employees. Today is Robin's 17th birthday! 🎂 At Robin, we believe in sticking to our values every day. To celebrate, I asked my amazing team one question: What's one word that describes working at Robin? 🤔 The big answer? "Freedom." 🕊️ But what does having freedom and working remotely really mean? It's not just about being flexible, it's about having control and trust. It's the freedom to pick your hours, plan your day your way, and be there for your family when they need you, like looking after sick kids during the day and working later. Working remotely also means less stress. No more getting stuck in traffic or rushing to reach the office on time. Instead, we get to start our day calmly at home, which helps us focus better and get more done. With nearly 8 years of experience here, I've seen firsthand how remote work lets us mix our personal and work lives smoothly, so we can do well in both areas. When Dave Hallam hired me in 1989, he told me that at Hallam-ICS, “we work to live, we don’t live to work.” As a 21-year-old engineer entering the workforce, this was very appealing as I had many interests along with a desire to grow personally and professionally! Over time, I came to appreciate the broader philosophy that “working” allows each of us to uniquely craft our “lives” to match our values, dreams, and beliefs. At Hallam-ICS, our work of engineering, control systems, and safety allows us to live generously, sharing with our employee-owners, our clients, and our communities. At the end of 2022, we became a Benefit Corporation, with the following non-financial goals: - A General Public Benefit of "creating a material positive impact on society and the environment." - A Specific Public Benefit of "providing equitable distribution of wealth through our commitment to employee ownership and our ESOP." And, "promoting broad-based employee-ownership as an equitable means of company ownership." - And "being a positive force to improve the lives of our employee-owners and the communities in which they live and work." We endeavor to be transparent in our actions and make our progress available publicly through our recently published 2023 Annual Benefit Report.
