❤ Nurturing responsiveness in infancy is crucial for laying the foundation of a child's mental and physical health. When caregivers consistently meet a baby's needs with sensitivity and warmth, it fosters a sense of security that lasts a lifetime. These early positive experiences help buffer against the negative effects of stress and adversity, reducing the likelihood of mental health challenges and physical issues later in life. The supportive environment provided by nurturing caregivers, especially in the first 2 months, contributes to healthy brain and body development. It leads to better stress regulation, improved immune function, and enhanced cognitive abilities. By nurturing infants in responsive and loving ways, adults not only promote their immediate well-being but also lay the groundwork for long-term health. Prevention starts with early caregiving practices! ❤ ➡➡Stay informed about our latest endeavors, including our 24/7 Hotline, dedicated to providing unwavering support, resources, and education for expecting parents navigating unplanned pregnancies. A community’s teen birth rate is an important health indicator. It is often associated with the community’s overall wellness and success. The United States has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the western industrialized world. Louisiana has the third highest teen birth rate in the United States. About 25% of teen moms have a second baby within 24 months of their first baby. Parenthood is the leading reason that teen girls drop out of school with more than 50% of teen mothers never graduating from high school. Less than 2% of teen moms earn a college degree by the age of 30. One Happy Mama is a New Orleans-based organization that is dedicated to empowering and uplifting young mothers through their journey of motherhood, self-fulfillment, and self-discovery while pursuing their happiest lives. Like Whitney Houston said, “I believe the children are the future…” It’s why I am proud to serve as the chair of OHM’s board of directors. I truly believe that every mother and every child and every family deserves to thrive, to live their best life. If you “believe the children are the future” too support OHM’s first-ever Black Maternal Health Week Block Party set for April 20th. We’re on a mission to raise awareness and bring resources directly to our community. cc: Janitza. Here’s how you can help make this event a success: 1.) Sponsorship: If you or your organization would like to sponsor, please reach out or make an introduction. 2.) Community Vendors: Are you in the maternal and family realm? Become a vendor to share your resources and services. 3.) Volunteers: We need enthusiastic volunteers. 4.) Donations: Every contribution counts! We welcome monetary and in-kind donations. Message me or email info@onehappymama.org for more information. #BlackMaternalHealth #CommunitySupport #FollowYourNola #NewOrleans #Motherhood #Parenthood Let’s make a difference together!

Approximately 1.9 million stillbirths occur worldwide every year. That’s one baby every 16 seconds. Miscarriages are even more common, with 10–15% of pregnant women losing their baby before 28 weeks. Baby loss takes a huge emotional toll on women and families. This is especially apparent when considering that the topic is still surrounded by stigma, leading to feelings of shame and a lack of available resources. Fortunately, charities are working hard to provide families with the support they need after the death of a baby. So, we had to ask: What are the best charities for stillborn babies & baby loss? 👇 https://lnkd.in/dXX7CZ_f March of Dimes, Star Legacy Foundation, Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support, Inc., Tommy's, GAPPS (Global Alliance to Prevent Prematurity and Stillbirth), STILLBIRTH AND NEONATAL DEATH SOCIETY, The Colette Louise Tisdahl Foundation, Genesis Research Trust, Project Sweet Peas #charitysupport #stillborn #babyloss #babylosssupport #familysupport

DEALING WITH FAMILY SHAME ISSUES Shame can hurt a lot. It can lead to the belief that we are damaged and unworthy of love because of something we’ve done or experienced. But shame is a lie. The truth is that you are valuable and worthy of love, and so is your baby, regardless of the situation or the timing of your pregnancy. If your family is trying to shame you into “getting rid of the problem,” this is likely because they feel shame of their own. Instead of listening to that same old trick they have hurt you with in the past, surround yourself with people who will love and support you and won't shame you, no matter your decision. Advocates at the pregnancy resource center will listen and help you through your tough situation. ✔Listen what Counselor Gini Larson has to say. https://lnkd.in/gkyyG98c ✔✔Stay informed of the latest we are doing, to include our 24/7 Hotline. ❤❤CLICK BELOW To Download Our Donation/Mobile App Link https://lnkd.in/ggke7e-6 We are a Christian based organization; however, we strive to help anyone in need regardless of Religion or other. My goal was one nonprofit spotlight a month. This month, we've got a double feature and my 2nd spotlight is Heart to Heart Pregnancy & Family Care Center. I got to sit down with Candice Caputo-Irving and learn about the ways this organization can help, and also hear about the impact they've already made. Here's what we discussed: Q. What is one thing you want our community to know about this organization? A. They meet clients wherever they are in life, and do so non-judgementally. They are here to love on and hold their client's hand during this challenging time. Q. How many were you able to help in 2023? A. 4,119 individual clients received services. That's 40% up from 2022! Services include pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, parenting classes, baby closet, and beyond. Q. What brought you to this organization? A. Candice first came to Heart to Heart in 1992 as a client, and returned in 2015 also as a client. When she came in to pick up formula, she was offered a job she wasn't seeking so this was 100% a calling from God. Q. What big events do you have coming up in 2024? A. May 11th is the inaugural Mystery at the Fort Legacy Ball, and October 17th is the annual 'It's a Beautiful Life' banquet. Q. How can we help? A. Advocate. Share, share, share about their services. Volunteer for administrative help at the front desk, and become a client advocate.

The Bridge Community Foundation wants to open up applications to provide assistance to NYC families! Our mission is to heal the unmet maternal healthcare needs of the families we serve by providing direct access to funding, resources, and support from providers and professionals we know personally from The Bridge Directory. There are so many gaps that exist in our current healthcare experience. Who else is going to fill them, if we don't? Who will create the solutions we need? Our initiatives include: Access - Care - Education Access is a key component to our mission. This includes community funding. Our Community Fund provides access to experienced birth and postpartum doulas and home birth midwives. Your donation could fund: doula services for a BIPOC family, a lactation visit for a struggling mom/parent, or a homebirth for parents-to-be with a midwife they trust. Your financial gift will directly benefit families looking for funding and access to high-quality care. This community fund is for pregnant/new parents and families of color living in New York City and surrounding areas. We work on an honor based system, with a simple application process, and short phone interview, when applicable. Payments are made directly to the providers. Here is how you can help: We need at least 100 people to pledge $15/month and you can support the birth and postpartum of someone's dreams today. Contribute, share, spread the word. https://lnkd.in/gAKT6Bvv

🔆 National Diaper Need Awareness Week (September 23-29) shines a spotlight on a crucial issue: diaper need in the U.S.🔅 Did you know that 1 in 2 families here struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their little ones clean, dry, and healthy?👶🚼 With the cost of a monthly diaper supply ranging from $80 to over $100, many parents face tough choices, like missing work or school, because they can't afford the diapers required to leave their children in childcare. We are incredibly grateful to an anonymous donor who supports Birthline with 13 bundles of Everylife wipes and diapers each month! That adds up to 2,000 diapers a month and 52 packets of wipes, saving families over $1100 monthly with their generosity! 💕 If you would like to support Birthline's life-affirming mission to extend help to low-income pregnant women🤰 and their babies, you can purchase your diapers from EveryLife with the code BIRTHLINE10 to get 10% off your purchase, AND have 10% of the proceeds go directly to us...OR you can donate funds directly for diapers, and Birthline can purchase diapers for our client moms at an even greater discount! 🫶 #birthlineofsandiego #helpingmoms #diaperdonations #freepregnancyresources #pregnancyresourcecenter #loveanothermother #makeadifference #empowerfamilies #diaperneed #diaperneedawarenessweek

That all lives matter, born and preborn, is clearly demonstrated by the duty to care for the periviable infant at delivery. "Q: What is our duty of care to infants born prior to or just at the age of viability?" "A periviable infant (variously interpreted in the United States as one between 20 and 24 weeks gestational age) is a critically ill patient due to developmental immaturity. As is the case for any other class of critically ill patient, these neonates can be offered goal-oriented intensive care including resuscitation and invasive interventions or can be offered comfort-oriented end-of-life care such as warming, morphine for air hunger, and feeding if applicable." When a fetal human being spontaneously delivers prematurely or is separated (delivered) from her mother in order to save the mother's life (rather than aborted, or killed), she continues to be treated as the person and "second patient" that she is.
