We are proud that our researchers have co-authored a new guide on operating autonomous vehicles! Developed by the BSI Automotive and Mobility and supported by the UK Government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV), BSI Flex 1887 sets out best practices to businesses for remote monitoring, assistance, and operation of self-driving vehicles. 🚗 Professors Stewart Birrell, Kevin Vincent, and Dr. Adam Bogg from our Centre for Future Transport and Cities (FTC) have integrated industry feedback and their extensive human factors research to create the guide. Key recommendations include ensuring qualified personnel are adequately trained for remote operation; implementing effective strategies for assessing and maintaining operator performance; and optimising the co-ordination of remote operators through effective management.
