Memorable, evoking that feeling of bringing you right back to where you were when you first tasted it. Nostalgia so to speak. 18 years later I think we have it down. People come in now and say how they grew up on our chicken salad or that it makes them happy to have one of our grilled pimento cheese sandwiches because it reminds them of their grandmother’s recipe. Same for all our salads we sell in our deli cases. Being born and bred in the south there’s also that thing of southern hospitality which is a dying form of art unfortunately, but we still have it here! We will yes ma’am and no sir you to death. Service Excellence - Birthday Edition! “If I told you it was my birthday, could I have extra whipped cream please?” This was my ask a few nights ago - and our server Dylan over-delivered!!! He smiled and said “I’m sure we can do that.” When he delivered my key lime pie, he grinned and said “There’s an extra big dollop on the pie too!” The side ramekin with the decorative swirl, topped with a candle - so much more than I had expected 😀😋 Years ago, the phrase of the moment was to “delight your customers.” Delighted indeed! When your team has an opportunity to over-deliver, at little to no cost to the business (because really, how much does whipped cream cost…) are they empowered to do it, without hesitation? We were recently at one of our favorite restaurants in our neighborhood & I happened to see that fish tacos were a new menu item. 🐟🌮 (I love fish tacos. Anyone else?) 😋 I was pretty excited & I wasn't the only one who felt this way. I overheard another table talking to their server about the fish tacos, how much they loved them & how happy they were to see them on the menu. The server said, "I know, right? We already had all the ingredients because of everything else on the menu, so we thought, why not make these, too?" 🧑🍳 I love this so much because as leaders and business owners, we...accumulate a TON of ingredients. Content. Knowledge. Experiences. Examples. 🤯 It might be time to take a look at all the stuff you have. Dig it out. Examine it. What can you make from what's in your storage closet?
