#MMC and #Offsite solutions are evolving at a rapid pace. Many discussions I've had over the years have included the debate about the ideal solution which generally considered as a hybrid of Cat 1 and Cat 2 MMC. E.g. Modules that contain the most complicated and time consuming elements built in a factory and a panelised superstructure that provides flexibility of design. 🏡 I'm delighted that Sano have run with that idea and developed a build system - M-Dock - that can be #manufactured and #installed by #localsuppliers. They are a very impressive team who created M-Dock to enable the industry to deliver #healthyhomes. They are a very friendly bunch too! (As evidenced in the picture below!) Sano provide the blueprints for homes through their M-Dock system which significantly increases quality, speed and performance. One Undershaft tower, promising to be London's next skyscraper, prepares for demolition this year, while Forshaw's biggest project to-date plans 229 flats and an apart-hotel in Bolton. In Bexhill-on-Sea, construction of a 54-bed inpatient mental health hospital is on the agenda. Frimley Park's new diagnostic and imaging centre's construction timeline has been cut by half. Unfortunately, business isn't booming for all - one in six business failures now belong to construction firms. On a brighter note, sustainable transformations are on the horizon with One Exchange Square project aiming to retain 90% of its existing structure. Regulating higher-risk buildings We oversee the regulation of high-rise residential buildings with a minimum of 7 floors or 18 meters in height and at least 2 residential units. Our scope also extends to care homes and hospitals during their design and construction phases. The first organisations to figure out cost-effective ways to convert commercial real-estate into residential are going to make a killing. I know it's not easy but we have a glut (and a potential crash) in the office-space market. GIDC Hosts Sod Turning Ceremony for Reconstruction of Building No. 10 After Devastating Fire in 2018. In a symbolic gesture of resilience and determination, the Grenada Investment Development Corporation (GIDC) held a Sod turning ceremony on Tuesday, July 6th, 2024 to mark the commencement of construction for the rebuilding of Building No. 10. The original structure was tragically ravaged by a fire on February 12th, 2018, leaving behind charred remnants of what was once a bustling hub for business and commerce. Building No. 10, a 22,384 sq. ft. rental space, was home to five esteemed tenants: KALICO, Talius, Aqua Natural, Linen' N Things, and Chnina Contracting. The fire not only destroyed the physical structure but also disrupted the operations and livelihood of employees of these businesses, creating a void in the industrial landscape of the Frequente Industrial Park. However, from the ashes of destruction emerges a new vision for the future. The upcoming two-storey facility will be a state-of-the-art, two-story steel frame commercial building, boasting modern amenities designed to meet the needs of a dynamic business environment. The reconstruction plan includes concrete suspended floors, a galvanized roof, loading bays for efficient logistics, an elevator box for accessibility, an enclosed staircase for safety, three-phase electricity for enhanced power supply, basic plumbing infrastructure, a comprehensive fire alarm system, and other essential supporting facilities. The reconstructed building will span approximately 40,000 sq. ft., a significant expansion from its predecessor, thereby increasing GIDC's rental offerings at the Frequente Industrial Park by 17,616 sq. ft. This development not only signifies a physical transformation but also represents a testament to the unwavering commitment of GIDC to support local businesses and foster economic growth in the region. As the bricks were laid, amidst a backdrop of hope and determination, the message was clear: from adversity springs opportunity, and from destruction rises resilience. The rebuilding of Building No. 10 is not just about constructing a new edifice but about revitalizing a community, restoring confidence, and paving the way for a brighter future.

The Opportunity Tree is inviting all Licensed Contractors in Arizona to consider and bid for an ADA Accessible Bathroom Renovation construction project at The Opportunity Tree’s Phoenix Campus at 3146 E. Windsor Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85008. This project consists of 2 Phases; Phase 1 includes the renovation of 3 existing restrooms from non-accessible, single use restrooms into 3 modernized, multi-stalled, ADA accessible restrooms. Phase 2 includes the renovation of 2 existing bathrooms from non-accessible, single use restrooms into 2 modernized, multi-stalled, ADA accessible restrooms, the renovation of an existing accessible shower space, the renovation of an existing private attendant care/changing space, and the demolishing of one non-accessible bathroom to increase accessibility and facility area/program capacity. This project is partially funded by Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) routed through the City of Phoenix and is open for bid to any and all Contractors licensed by the State of Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
