We're the government’s housing and regeneration agency. We help create affordable, quality homes and drive regeneration.
About us
As the government’s housing and regeneration agency, we believe affordable, quality homes in well-designed places are key to improving people’s lives. We help make this happen by combining our powers, expertise, land, capital and influence to bring investment to communities and build more quality homes. We achieve this by forming long-term partnerships that bridge the public and private sectors and by using our influence to champion the creation of sustainable homes, communities and places that are brilliantly designed. We also use our funding and support to build a more resilient, diverse and innovative housing sector, helping new entrants in the market, encouraging modern methods of construction and design, and promoting building safety. Together, with our partners, we’re accelerating the pace of house building, remediation and regeneration across the country. However, our ambitious and exciting agenda can only be achieved through collaboration and commitment. Whatever your role in the built environment, we’re your partner in housing and regeneration and we’re here to help. We’re the #HousingAndRegenerationAgency. Following the publication of the government’s Levelling Up White Paper, Homes England has also been tasked with a core role in spearheading regeneration, partnering with places to reduce economic disparity, empower local leaders and create equal opportunities across the country to ensure communities reach their full potential.

Everyone deserves a place they are proud to call home. That’s why North East Mayor Kim McGuinness has made housing a key part of her plans for the North East. We have signed a Strategic Place Partnership with Homes England that will support the region to realise its housing ambitions. Teams from the North East CA and the Agency will work together for the long-term to unlock locally-led plans to create new homes within thriving places for people across the region. This includes drawing on Homes England expertise and resources, including land, legal powers and funding, underpinned by the development of a shared business plan aligned to local priorities. The Stirling House project is an excellent development which we're pleased to have supported through grant funding. Based on the site of a former care home, a number of previously homeless military veterans have been involved in the construction process. The project has supported the veterans by providing employment and skills for life, by building 25 social rent homes with improved energy efficiency, which will provide support for households in high need. 🧱 #WeAreHomesEngland
We are delighted to have joined our valued partners Plymouth City Council, Alabaré and Coyde Construction for an event today to celebrate the completion of the Stirling House Project 🏠 . The development, based on the site of a former residential care home at Honicknowle Green in the city, has seen a number of previously homeless military veterans involved in the construction of the self-contained affordable homes to rent. The project has helped the veterans with employment, learning skills for life and helping them settle into their new homes. The project began in 2021 after Plymouth City Council selected LiveWest as a partner to redevelop the site. All of the 25 homes are occupied through social rent in order to provide support for households in high need and have air source heat pumps installed to improve the homes’ energy efficiency and help resident’s save on their energy bills. Our Executive Director of Development and Investment, Russell Baldwinson, said: "We are delighted to have worked with our partners on such a flagship scheme for Plymouth, supporting the further regeneration of the city. “The Stirling House Project has provided much-needed housing and offered ex-service personnel the unique and special opportunity to get involved with the construction of the homes, learn new skills and build on the scheme supported by Alabaré. “We are proud to offer these high-quality and energy-efficient homes, where the build and design of the project focuses on the wellbeing of its residents. “Our commitments to delivering more affordable homes helps to create communities where more families and individuals have a safe place to call home.” Thank you to Fred Thomas MP and Luke Pollard for attending and we are very appreciative of the support from Homes England, the Government’s housing and regeneration agency. We wish all of the residents a very happy future in their new homes.

Friday marked the opening event for our new homes on Corporation Street 🥳🏠 Collaborating with Tameside Council and Great Places Housing Group, we transformed the old police station to create 24 apartments for supported living, supported by a 24-hour care team. Funded in part by Homes England and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, our development will provide much-needed homes for adults needing support with their independence and wellbeing. Partnerships in housing developments such as this are crucial to meet current and future needs of residents, as well as bring investment to Tameside. Joined by local MP Jonathan Reynolds MP, it was brilliant to have stakeholders see the final result at Stalybridge. https://lnkd.in/gUUuZftX #Watson #TamesideCouncil #affordablehomes

💷 We're proud to announce £51m of investment into Birkenhead alongside Homes England. This funding will help build 1,500 new homes, create vibrant green spaces, and improve transport links. By delivering essential infrastructure, we’re making sure local people benefit, turning this area into a sustainable community for generations to come. 🏠🌳 This is a huge milestone in the regeneration of Birkenhead and the wider Wirral, and will serve as a blueprint for the type of regeneration we want to see across the Liverpool City Region. Our mission is to deliver regeneration that doesn't stop at creating homes, but regeneration that delivers jobs, turbocharges local businesses and builds thriving communities. The Strategic Place Partnership is a clear example that by working together, we can unlock opportunities and break down the barriers that have been holding our region back. 🤝 This is what meaningful regeneration looks like—investment that benefits the community and sets up a brighter future for all. 🌇 https://lnkd.in/eTrZyBbZ
