🌍✨ Today, on the UN International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples, we honour the profound contributions and wisdom of indigenous communities around the globe. Representing around 6% of the world's population, indigenous peoples play a crucial role as stewards of our planet, safeguarding some of its most biodiverse areas. 🌿 Their traditional knowledge and practices are invaluable in our collective efforts to protect the environment. Yet, indigenous communities face significant challenges, from violence and threats to their rights and livelihoods, to the degradation of their ancestral lands by extractive industries. The United Nations reminds us of the importance of safeguarding their rights to live in peace and dignity. We must take action to foster unity and inclusion, and here are a few simple ways to support indigenous communities: 📚 Educate ourselves and others: Learn about indigenous cultures, histories, and the challenges they face. Share this knowledge to raise awareness and promote understanding. ⛔ Stand against discrimination: Challenge and speak out against racism, xenophobia, and bigotry in all forms. Promote inclusivity and respect for all cultures. 📣 Advocate for indigenous rights: Push for policies that protect indigenous rights and lands. Support legislation that upholds the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Their survival is our survival. As we celebrate this day, let's stand in solidarity with indigenous communities, recognising their vital role in our world and supporting their right to self-determination. #IndigenousPeoplesDay #UNIndigenousDay #IndigenousDay #Unity #Diversity #Inclusion #Sustainability #PeaceAndDignity

Today, we celebrate the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples and raise awareness about the diverse and vibrant communities of Indigenous Peoples around the 🌎. Indigenous Peoples live across all regions of the world, owning, occupying, or using approximately 22% of the Earth's land area. With a population of 370-500 million, they represent a significant portion of the world's cultural diversity. 🫶🏽 With this in mind, it is essential that we embrace and accept every individual within our community, regardless of their culture, background, or identity. By fostering an environment of inclusivity and respect, we not only celebrate the richness of our diverse cultures but also strengthen the bonds that unite us. Recognising and valuing the unique experiences, challenges, and perspectives of Indigenous individuals, and remaining culturally aware and empathetic, allows us to grow together and share culture with one another. Our goal is to create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and appreciated. This commitment to inclusivity is central to our efforts across all our organisations, as we strive to build a more compassionate and equitable society where everyone can thrive and contribute to our shared success. #indigenouspeople #worldindigenouspeopleday #culture #community #background #inclusivity #diversity #acceptance #empathetic
