Gait Speed If an athlete isn't using proper form while moving rapidly, a sprain or injury is likely to occur unless they begin to move properly. Form can be assessed scientifically, but most data-collection processes can be time consuming or costly. Quick Board's Gait Speed exercise is a great way for coaches or clinicians to gain rapid preliminary data that can be used to draw conclusions. It assesses each leg individually, recording how quickly each one can move and the amount of time the foot is in contact with each dot. This allows observers to see exactly how each leg differs, how healed or injured a problem leg is, and how overall form could be improved! #sportsrehab #sportsrehabilitation #sportsrecovery #sportsperformance #sportsperformancetraining #sportsphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #rehab #acl #aclrehab #reaction #neuroplasticity #neurorehabilitation

This training routine by Coach Sam Cumbo is called seated Medi-Ball Throws. It challenges you to generate maximum force in a short amount of time. That translates to improved performance in explosive movements such as jumping. Secondly, the overhead medicine ball throw can help improve upper body strength and stability. #mediballthrows #medicineballthrows #weighttraining #baseballtraining #fitnesstraining #baseballfitness #upperbodystrength

Through my volunteer work with USA Track and Field and USA Curling, I encountered specific injuries and conditions. In track and field, a common issue was high hamstring injuries, both acute and chronic. We worked with athletes to help them continue competing at a high level despite these injuries. In curling, I observed a lot of adductor injuries and femoral nerve entrapment. This allowed me to gain valuable experience in working with nerve injuries. Interestingly, both sports shared some commonalities in terms of injuries. In track and field, particularly with sprinters and hurdlers, I often saw low back and hip issues. Similarly, in curling, the way athletes would slide during their delivery created outside hip issues. The outside glutes, max, and TFL (tensor fasciae latae) were significant components and commonalities between the two sports. https://lnkd.in/gwnvU2aZ

Attention athletes! Want to bulletproof your hamstrings in a more sport-specific manner? According to research, eccentric training (lengthening the muscle) can help prevent hamstring injuries, which often occur during the lengthening phase of movement. Make sure to contract your glutes during the movement and if you can't go all the way down, using bands can help. Don't let hamstring injuries hold you back from reaching your full potential on the field or court! #sportsperformance #injuryprevention #eccentrictraining #strength #speed #agility Bram Swinnen
