Love the innovation we continue to see in the jersey patch space - from the Charlotte Hornets partnering with a content creator brand to now Pacers Sports & Entertainment (PSE) placing a QR code-type patch of tech start-up company spokenote on the Indiana Pacers' jersey. The content and data collection opportunities emanating from this are significant: -spokenote will have versatility in activation as it can deliver customized content and/or promotions to fans in real time -spokenote and PSE can collect valuable data from fans around the world watching Pacers games on linear TV and streaming platforms -PSE can have player-specific content appear when a particular player's QR-code patch is scanned, thus enhancing storytelling while helping build a player's brand It'll be interesting to see the impact of this initiative and whether other clubs will follow suit. #sponsorshipactivation #sponsorshipmarketing #partnershipmarketing

This is exciting for the future of women's sports. This season has showcased several players achieving remarkable feats on the court. While Caitlin Clark of Iowa rightfully garners much attention, it's important not to overlook the performances of JuJu Watkins (USC), Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), Angel Reese (LSU), Cameron Brink (Stanford), Paige Bueckers (UConn), and Aaliyah Edwards (UConn). These standout athletes aren't just making waves in the sport, they are also becoming pivotal role models for young girls aspiring to excel in basketball. They are also demonstrating to young boys that girls possess equal skill and prowess on the court. The growing popularity of women's basketball is undeniable. With more eyes tuned in, television networks are recognizing the value, leading to increased investments in broadcasting rights. And with this, heightened viewership translates into greater opportunities for companies to leverage advertisements during broadcasts. As the visibility and marketability of women's basketball continue to surge, the landscape of NIL agreements is evolving. Athletes, particularly those in the women's game, are positioned to benefit from more opportunities for sponsorships and endorsements. This upward trajectory also extends to the professional realm. With more interest and investment, a rise in pay scales within the WNBA should follow. #WomenInSports #BasketballExcellence
With 14.2 million viewers, peaking at 17 million viewers, this makes it the most-viewed women’s basketball game on record and the largest audience for an ESPN basketball broadcast. 👏 It’s also ESPN’s second-highest audience for a non-football broadcast. Let’s go!

Jason has a brilliant piece of advice for those getting started in their career: “you can’t end up where you want to be without knowing how to get there. For the most part, everyone in this industry is a bit of an oversharer when it comes to their craft. Ask someone who is doing the job you want what you need to know. This goes for tech and production. No job in this industry is as simple as it may look from the outside. Ask questions, pay attention to the answers. Especially when you are starting out, if you find yourself without an immediate task, go learn about some building blocks for where you want to go.”
Introducing SVG All-Stars! A new series in which we spotlight the next generation of the sports broadcast and production industry, and explore their journey to success. During a decade of work at MLB NETWORK, Jason Hedgcock has established himself as an irreplicable piece of the sport’s live-production puzzle. From delivering critical video workflows at annual events like MLB All-Star, MLB Postseason, and the World Series, Major League Baseball’s expansion into special events — World Baseball Classic, MLB at Field of Dreams, international ventures like the London Series and Seoul Series — wouldn’t be possible without his hard work and expertise. Learn about his story, the technological innovations he has his eye on, and his advice for succeeding in the dynamic live–sports-production industry. ⚾ : https://lnkd.in/eXNe2Gku
