Partners in #workforcedevelopment, remember that real people directly benefit from all your hard #work in the #workforce sector. Thanks for sharing this story Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership. Happy Holidays! #upskilling #apprenticeships #jobs #BuildBackBetter
Rudolph “Rudy” B. is a veteran and, as for so many who serve, his transition back to civilian life was challenging. His journey to find a new career and successfully ‘come home’ led him to the Calumet Area Industrial Commission (CAIC), in The Partnership’s network. CAIC’s programs introduced Rudy to On the Job (OJT) training with a local employer and eventually a full-time job. When this employer closed its doors, Rudy used the skills he learned through his OJT to transfer to another sector, and his career continues today!

I help you become the leader you’d want to follow | Author | Keynote Speaker | Leadership Coach & Facilitator
"Everything ranks below 'are you breathing or not?'" I recently had the opportunity to attend a keynote by professional fisherman, John Hoyer Wisconsin Lutheran College. Hoyer is the only angler with three National Walleye Tour Championship first-place finishes. He is also coming off his first Angler of the Year title. His working career started with cutting the grass and shoveling snow at church. After an unsuccessful stint at North Dakota State University for civil engineering, he turned his summer job of carpentry into a full-time profession. Eighteen years later, he left that steady income and took a leap of faith to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time professional angler on TV. Given all Hoyer's successes, my biggest takeaway had nothing to do with his accolades. Instead, it was a personal philosophy he shared with us that he developed while his late mother was going through cancer treatments: "Everything ranks below 'are you breathing or not?'" That phrase underscores the paramount importance of life itself over all other concerns or priorities. It's a potent reminder to prioritize well-being, to cherish the gift of life, and to seize each moment with purpose. Reflect on this truth. Embrace its power. Let it ignite your passion and drive. Focus on what truly matters - your core values. Because in the end, being truly alive is the ultimate achievement. #Fishing #Values

Saw this post from Sarah which really hit a chord - Life's lessons are not harsh; they're a guide to growth. Betrayals show loyalty, and loneliness reveal the value of true friendship. Just enough bad luck, defeats, and being ignored are opportunities for learning and growth. #LifeWisdom #GrowthMindset
Speaking at a commencement ceremony, Chief Justice Roberts once told the graduates “I wish you bad luck From time to time in the years to come, I hope you will be treated unfairly, so that you will come to know the value of justice. I hope that you will suffer betrayal because that will teach you the importance of loyalty. I hope you will be lonely from time to time so that you don’t take friends for granted. I wish you bad luck, again, from time to time so that you will be conscious of the role of chance in life and understand that your success is not completely deserved and that the failure of others is not completely deserved either. And when you lose, as you will from time to time, I hope every now and then, your opponent will gloat over your failure. It is a way for you to understand the importance of sportsmanship. I hope you’ll be ignored so you know the importance of listening to others, and I hope you will have just enough pain to learn compassion. Whether I wish these things or not, they’re going to happen. And whether you benefit from them or not will depend upon your ability to see the message in your misfortunes.”

LCCC has been so valuable to this area
Did you know that LCCC became the Commodores through a student contest in 1966? Seventh-grader Connie R. Hall from South Amherst won the contest with her mascot suggestion, the Commodores, in tribute to Commodore Perry's victory over the British in the Battle of Lake Erie during the War of 1812. In another contest in the 1960s, 15-year-old Clearview High School student Leonard Imbrogno designed the LCCC seal.

You AIN'T all that unless you think you have "the right stuff" to earn a coveted Captain Kirk Thumbs-up Distinction. As we all know, sometimes we must divert our flight path. Last night was different, and the sharp young lady speaker earned the highly coveted Captain Kirk Thumbs-up Distinction Award. #teamcaptainkirkphillips diverted to Pasco Watch, a small group of passionate voices, to listen to a young great American speak about one of the largest K-12 school districts in our Great America. Please take 35 seconds to read this blurb about this superstar. Mrs. Jessica Wright for Pasco County School Board is a fantastic choice for the fights our school systems are facing. The Captain didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday and knows about fights, battles, and wars. Our schools and learning institutions are grappling with tough obstacles in these challenging times, from shifting economic realities to a transient student population and those resistant to change. However, last night, we heard a passionate and highly intelligent speaker at Pasco Watch focused on putting students first. This urgency underscores the need for a leader like Jessica Wright. Jessica Wright understands that the individual needs of each learner must be the top priority. She is committed to optimizing resources and navigating the mountains of federal, state, and local policies and legal constraints that tie the hands of our educators. We should all applaud individuals like Jessica, willing to step up and fight for our children's education. She has the knowledge, experience, and unwavering dedication to make the difficult decisions to move our schools forward. Jessica Wright is not just a candidate; she is a remarkable choice for our school system in any capacity. Our school systems need professionals with visions like Jessica’s for student-centric learning and operational efficiency. Your role in this election is crucial. I urge you to prioritize finding the time to listen to what Jessica Wright has to offer.
So, YOU think you got the "Right Stuff?" Earn a Captain Kirk Thumbs-up Award

I had a great time facilitating a workshop entitled, "Practical Metacognitive Strategies for the College Classroom" at the 2024 Teaching, Learning, & Technology Conference (TLTCon 24). Many thanks to attendees for the great thoughts you shared throughout the session! 😊 #TLTCon24 #Metacognition #HigherEd #FacDev #EdDev
#TLT One of the best virtual conference I've attended. Thank you College of Charleston for a great event! Tolulope (Tolu) N. led an impactful session - I can't wait to share what I've learned from her and the other presenters these past two days and start implementing new strategies to enhance my instruction.

2024 National Business Educator of the Year * 2022 WBEA Outstanding High School Business Educator * 2021 OCEE and 2019 OBEA Teacher of the Year * Accounting/Finance Educator * CTE * College Now Liaison * NGPF Fellow
Hands down the most effective conference for educators of personal finance. Not only has the national team of Laura L. Levine Dan Hebert Joel Chrisler and many more, mastered hosting a comprehensive conference with a teacher-centered focus (it's in their mission!), they are doing incredible work ALL year long to promote why this content is critical to our nation's youth. I have leaned on all three of these individuals at one time or another since discovering their work, and often stated that #JumpStartNEC changed my classroom, not only for me, but for my students. (Mystic Dan) #DanTheMan, Laura, Joel, the entire JumpStart Team...I appreciate you for wanting my classroom to be better in providing high-quality, highly-engaging personal finance resources for ALL of my students. I wish State Departments of Education understood how this work has been comprehensive for many years, not just convenient timing in recent headlines. You understand the data and the importance of doing this correctly. Apply today!!
So Mystic Dan won the Kentucky Derby this weekend! (see what I did there?) Guess who's going to win in Louisville this November? Teachers! Would you consider sponsoring a scholarship for them to attend? https://lnkd.in/e8jePq_Q
