Looking forward to speaking at the upcoming @ACEC New York 2024 Winter Conference January 28-30th at Albany Capital Center (https://lnkd.in/e7nTkYNa). Hope you can join Robert Brewer, Phillip Ross, Michael Vardaro, Paul Boyce and me for a lively discussion about "What You Need to Know About ESOPs for Engineers." We’ll be helping engineering firms take advantage of the new law in New York State that allows ESOPs to own up to and including 100% of a firm. We will cover: 1) how an ESOP can help you meet your goals in a) succession, b) recruitment, c) retention – and d) enhancing the long term sustainability of a firm; 2) what makes a good ESOP candidate; 3) what are the tax benefits you keep hearing about for the company and the sellers; 4) how to structure and finance an ESOP transaction; and 5) related legal issues. Plenty of time for Q&A – my favorite – both during and following the session.
For the second year, we're proud to partner with Discover Albany and Capital City Rescue Mission on food recovery efforts during our upcoming Winter Conference. Throughout the conference, extra food that has not left the kitchen will be donated. Our food donations will help support men, women, and children here in Albany County. In today's era of remarkable medical breakthroughs, the act of blood donation remains a fundamental yet impactful gesture. It's a universal act of kindness that transcends cultural, economic, and social barriers, with an immeasurable impact on lives. Alarmingly, only a fraction of those eligible to donate blood do so, despite the widespread ability to contribute. At the core of blood donation lies empathy. Each donation, capable of saving up to three lives, plays a crucial role in healthcare; Hospitals constantly face the challenge of meeting the blood demand for surgeries, chronic illnesses, trauma treatments, and more. Unfortunately, the blood supply often struggles to keep pace with this demand, creating life-threatening gaps. The donation process itself is simple, safe, and relatively quick, yet it yields long-lasting benefits. A single pint of blood can be separated into various components, each serving unique and critical medical needs. Understanding the scale of blood necessity in our community is vital and daily requirements can reach hundreds of units, and this demand can only be met through regular contributions from a diverse group of blood donors. Our organization, CCBC, facilitates blood donations through five permanent donor centers and numerous mobile drives in the valley, ensuring convenience and accessibility for all potential donors. In conclusion, blood donation is not just a noble act; it's a powerful expression of empathy and community service. The effort required from each donor is minimal, yet the value it brings to recipients and the community is immense. By dispelling misconceptions and highlighting the urgent need for donations, we aim to inspire more individuals to join this life-saving mission. We urge everyone to take action: donate blood, save lives, and be an integral part of a community that cherishes the value of every life. Please see the below clip where Central California Blood Center's CEO Christopher Staub discusses the urgent need for blood donations.
Yesterday our CEO and President Christopher Staub had the opportunity to go on ABC 30 and discuss the urgent need for blood donations in our community! We encourage you to watch the interview and share it within your network to continue raising awareness about the need for blood! https://lnkd.in/gAh6AgE3

A few years ago, DonationScout set out to streamline restaurant fundraisers even more with a new ePayments system. We aimed to simplify the payment process with seamless online transactions. However, we discovered that while restaurants wanted online payments, fundraiser organizations preferred traditional checks, despite initially expressing a preference for electronic donations. This aligns with Henry Ford's insight: "If I would have asked people what they wanted, they would have said a faster horse." Often, consumers don’t know what they truly need. This led us to pivot. DonationScout is now acts as an intermediary, allowing restaurants to process payments online, while ensuring fundraiser organizations received physical checks. This experience highlights the importance of iteration in product development. At DonationScout, we embrace challenges as opportunities to innovate and better serve our partners in the community fundraising landscape.
DonationScout: Your AP team's newest crush 😍 📢 Announcing donation processing for DonationScout. You (the restaurant) send the event donation to us electronically, we cut the check. It's that simple. Schedule a demo here: https://lnkd.in/gNdGQazm

Last week, Anick Silencieux from Support Black Charities shared a workshop with our team on Black Philanthropy in Canada. One central theme throughout Anick’s presentation was the importance of uplifting and elevating your community. This is a common motivation for why people give, and it left us with some reflections that we wanted to share with you: 👉 What does elevating my community mean to me? 👉 How can I incorporate elevating my community into my charitable giving? 👉 What steps can I take to get started?
