What does it take to do beverage videography?
Well a LOT!
You see with beverage photography one of the most challenging situations come up with - reflection..
There's a whole lot more to it than meets the eye (or the lens).
You see there’s 3 main reasons why it’s so difficult to achieve great videos for beverages
Lighting - When it comes to beverages, lighting is a whole new ball game. Controlling reflections, highlights, and shadows while maintaining the drink's natural look can be a challenge
Colour Contrast - Balancing saturation and contrast to ensure the colors pop without appearing artificial requires finesse.
Time - Time can be your biggest enemy because as drinks dilute, textures change and this means you need to have everything ready way before the shot.
And that is why behind every video there are a series of trials and errors that we go through.
So what do you think? Is it easy to shoot for beverage brands?

If you’ve always wondered why your McDonald’s burger always looks better on the adverts than in reality, well here is the answer!
A bit of an old video (12 years old!), but I just came past it and I like how open McDonald’s is about the whole question and this short video is a really great way to to understand how a food photoshoot is really made; and why food items often look different in advertisements than they do in real life.
In the video, Hope Bagozzi, McDonald's Canadian marketing director at the time, shows the behind-the-scenes process of a photo shoot, with the food prepared by a food stylist then a graphic designer works on the pictures in Photoshop.
That's compared, side by side, to an un-doctored quarter pounder bought from a local McDonald's restaurant.
Fascinating process!

Tell your story with authentic photography that captures your ethos and connects emotionally with your audience | Event Photography | Personal Brand Photography | Corporate Photography
How do you ensure you stand out from your competitors?
It’s more important than ever to project a consistent and impactful brand image to ensure you are attractive to prospective customers and clients, so you can connect with them on an emotional level. Brand photography that tells your story is an ideal way to bring your USP to life, whether that’s your exceptional customer service or the unique way your product is made.
Last year I worked with Cooper Foods to tell their story through photography. Cooper Foods are a wholesale meat and fish supplier to independent pubs and restaurants across the South. Their brief to me was to help them better communicate the true value of what they do to potential new customers, and inject more of their personality and business values into areas such as their website.
There were several different areas where they wanted to capture images, covering as much of the end-to-end process as possible, such as working shots of the management and customer service team, more detailed shots of the food preparation facility plus meat, fish and deli products, and of course some action shots of the delivery vans and drivers. I also suggested capturing some more fun, tongue-in-cheek stylised black and white shots, which could be useful in different situations such as PR in the future.
You can see some of the fabulous photos I captured and read more about their experience here: https://buff.ly/3vUlJ56#brandphotography
How I pick the perfect shot ...
It starts with an idea.
But the real magic?
It's all about playing with angles, light and positioning.
In this video I started with a warm, inviting setup.
A cutting board, Cacao beans, and colorful chocolate bars.
Then, I move around, trying different heights and angles.
Why?
Because every detail matters.
My goal ...
To create images that not only look great but truly represent your brand.
So I experiment, shift things around, and see what works best.
This process helps me discover amazing shots I hadn't even imagined.
And you, my clients, get a gallery full of options.
More choices, more favorites.
All within your timeline.
Because for me, going the extra mile is just part of the job.
I want to make sure you're thrilled with the results.
So let's play and create something beautiful that will help increase your sales!

Some behind the scene snippets of our Project for The Vegetarian Butcher
I love what I do! Creating something special; the colours, the thought process, playing with ideas, how crazy ideas turn out into something special…and seeing it all come together with a passionate and enthusiastic team, truly rewarding.
It’s very gratifying and fulfilling seeing your work online, in an add, in a buss stop, or on a package in a supermarket; inspiring people who are out and about in their daily lives. Sometimes this work might go unnoticed.
People often don’t realise the amount of work that has gone into a single shot, may it be Photography or Video.
I love to see how surprised and intrigued people are when I explain what goes on before, during and after a photo/videoshoot. How much time and love we put into every project.
Perhaps next time you buy a Vegetarian Butcher product for example, take a closer look at the packaging Photo, a whole team made that 😍 Team District10

The reason why you’d hire a photographer to take photos of your food is the same reason why you need a videographer to take videos for your business. You want to show off your food and service in the best light, right? 🌟
