✍️ Need a new Duty Section Training topic? Encourage your Sailors to take the Navy's Health of the Force survey! Sailors can share their feelings on a variety of issues including retention, work environment, engagement, stress, readiness, work/life balance, etc. From this survey, the information and data allows Navy leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and programs and determine the changes needed. Make sure you tell US Navy leaders like the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy James Honea and the Chief of Naval Personnel what you think about Navy programs and policies by taking the survey: https://bit.ly/3Wry383

The Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps was caught off guard by the situation. Senior enlisted personnel must advocate vigorously for the well-being of their junior Marines. Rather than excusing the oversight of Marines at the training facility by attributing it to disinformation or highlighting the construction of a new firehouse, he should be holding accountable all enlisted personnel and officers who failed in their duties. Leadership should prioritize professional courage over merely being executive figureheads or yes-men. Authentic leadership requires action and integrity.

Ah yes, the Naval Bridge Simulator aka the most involved video game you'll ever play. Expect to log many hours on these stone ships before you even step foot on a real HMC Ship. You'll learn to navigate the ship, use the bridge equipement effectively and work with your bridge team to keep the whole ship safe while conducting naval operations at sea. All of this without even leaving the school! The coolest part about them? They are not just for trainees. The simulator will be a big part of your entire naval officer career as you progress through being a junior officer, a BWK, a department head and director. As you prepare for Command the bridge simulator will take on a whole new perspective while you learn to get comfortable sitting in "the Chair." Being a Naval Warfare Officer is one of the most demanding jobs available in the Canadian Armed Forces. But you are well prepared in training and the bridge simulator is just one of these vectors.
“Port 30, set speed one-five!” Another milestone achieved on the journey to becoming an Officer of the Watch! Reserve Naval Warfare Officers have the opportunity to complete their training in multiple modules. Throughout this training, they gain navigation skills, develop leadership, and learn about essential operating procedures and life on ship. https://lnkd.in/e_iHkSgm #NavRes #HelpLeadFight #DigitalNavy

Maritime Institute, Vice President of Business Development - Task Force Movement, Maritime Chair - USCG (Ret)
This article makes me sad and angry at the same time. 100% agree we could do better by our enlisted workforce and the nation if we lean in and align training and experience with a purpose longer than the immediate task. I devoted more than half my career toward advancements in education and credentialing systems. “They don’t want to be mariners.” BS they were not asked and their training is not recognized. We stood up USNCC and the credentialing programs against tremendous resistance. Restrictions on tuition assistance across the services are madening and the program is still throttled for “cost savings.” Shipyard work is good work and pays very well. We are a maritime nation, why are we still in the same predicament after a decade of warnings and executive orders? Don’t blame the workforce, that’s a revolving door that votes with their feet. If the maritime shortage was an operational imperative we wouldn’t be here. I studied strategic documents for two decades and don’t remember any calling for a dumber, less educated, less competent military workforce. Infuriating. DoD is the largest training organization in the country and veterans are great people. Let’s mobilize and get people to work. Task Force Movement U.S. Naval Community College

Regarding NAVY ship repair and building facilities... Navy needs to stop assigning officers in direct leadership positions inside these facilities. Commanding a Ship/Vessel does not qualify a warfighter the ability to grasp the complexity of running a 'business' at a Naval Port. Besides this aspect, the Naval Officer is NOT effective, as the rotation is normally 3 years. No time to get familiar and understand the complexities of running a billion-dollar enterprise with government and civilian workforce, especially in a foreign Nation. The ANSWER... SES assigned having experience running a civilian shipyard.

Today, I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on the U.S. Naval Community College. I encourage all Naval Leaders to read these interesting facts and nominate a creditable Sailor from their command. USNCC provides naval-relevant associate degree levels and stackable certificates in naval-relevant fields to enlisted service members. It became established in 2021 in order to progress war fighting skills capability. Partnering with regionally accredited universities, its goal is to remain responsive to the fleet through emerging Navy programs and needs such as leadership, engineering, data analytics, cybersecurity, aviation and many more. It does not limit service members to in rate only specific classes. It does not touch TA or GI Bill funding. It does not require a specific time in service. It’s 100% funded. To enroll: -command nomination or apply online -application screened -command approves -candidate notified of admissions and next steps

Developing our nation’s next generation of warfighters! Surface Warfare Schools Command (SWSC) Commanding Officer, CAPT Joseph Baggett, meets with RADM Pete Garvin, President, Naval War College (NWC) to discuss efforts as warfighting enablers by the two premier training and education organizations located onboard Naval Station Newport. NWC and SWSC regularly collaborate, supporting each other’s leader development programs designed to ensure decisive advantage in a complex and rapidly changing global security environment. Both organizations are vital to the Navy’s strategic focus on increasing naval competitive advantage to effectively deter aggression and succeed in long-term competition that challenges our national security, and to prepare our naval forces to succeed across the full spectrum of conflict. Military Service Academy Majors & Career Paths Highlights: ▪️If your student is smart, athletic, and/or interested in leadership, keeping their mind open to military service academies or the ROTC can give them more options. ▪️Military officers are essentially the managerial layer of the military as an organization. About 15% of personnel fall into this category. ▪️While military service academies may seem like the right financial fit, there are more requirements to get in, and there is a five-year commitment upon graduation. ▪️The Naval Academy and Air Force Academy are very tech and STEM-focused. The Merchant Marine and Coast Guard academies are more certification-focused. However, these are not the only majors available. ▪️Military service academies are not an automatic road to front-line heavy combat. ▪️Your student should understand the opportunity costs for attending the academies. They should understand and ask themselves: if you don't get the community that you want, are you going to be okay with it? https://lnkd.in/gYX6iDq5
