Last week, Anick Silencieux from Support Black Charities shared a workshop with our team on Black Philanthropy in Canada. One central theme throughout Anick’s presentation was the importance of uplifting and elevating your community. This is a common motivation for why people give, and it left us with some reflections that we wanted to share with you: 👉 What does elevating my community mean to me? 👉 How can I incorporate elevating my community into my charitable giving? 👉 What steps can I take to get started?

Well, that was fun..! I decided to test an upcoming activation concept for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana by running a mini version myself. I’m happy to reconfirm that peer-to-peer fundraising is alive and well! 🎉 And no… it does not need to be tied to an event or special occasion. In a little over 24 hours, I exceeded my goal - raising $1,500+ from 24 donors. Here's what worked: ✅ Great Tech: A seamless and straightforward platform and donation process thanks to my BFF Fundraise Up. ✅ Individual Donor Recognition: Every single contribution was celebrated - personally and publicly! ✅ Regular Updates: I kept the momentum going with live progress shares. ✅ Personalization & Storytelling: Every message came straight from me, with personal anecdotes wherever possible. ✅ Mission Tie-In: I made it clear why donations were so impactful at this specific moment in time. ✅ Multichannel Communication: I reached out to my community through texts, social media, and email. What did I miss? Anything you’d add to ensure the official launch of this campaign is a success? #peertopeer #p2pfundraising #fundraising #rmhc #keepingfamiliesclose
We made it! The first day of Spring 🌸 As the days get warmer, the need for support at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana grows. Summer is our busiest time of year as many families use the break to travel for treatments and surgeries. Mike McDonald and I have an exciting summer ahead welcoming another McDonald boy to our fam! 💙 As you look forward to relaxing days and family vacations, please don't forget those families who will be spending their summer in hospital rooms. These next few weeks are a critical time to rally the resources needed to help RMHC-CNI be fully prepared to support these families. I've set up a personal fundraiser to pay it forward and ensure we are able to provide a home away from home for everyone who needs it. Help me reach my goal:

Are fears or past regrets holding you back from releasing the resources God has entrusted to you? Most seasoned givers have at least one story of a gift that didn’t go the way they hoped or expected. Brian Grasso shares candidly about his painful experience as a young giver and what compelled him to roll up his sleeves and dig deep into what it takes to make wiser charitable decisions. Click on the link below to learn more about the process Brian and his organization, Simple Charity, use to evaluate Christian charities for effectiveness. And see how their knowledge can inform your decisions, too, so your gift will do the most good. https://lnkd.in/gXgvsSmR
