PIX Plaza, New York, NY (January 30, 2024) PIX11 News today welcomes four-time national Emmy award-winning journalist Kendis Gibson to the anchor desk of PIX11 News at 4 and 5 PM. During a distinguished career in both local and network television news, Gibson has been at the forefront of reporting some of the most significant events in American history.  His journalism career led him to Ground Zero following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, where he narrowly escaped minutes before the first Tower fell. Throughout the years, he has provided insightful coverage of important political races, from Barack Obama's historic ascent to the Presidency in 2008 and Donald Trump's surprising 2016 victory, to Joe Biden's triumph in 2020.  Anchoring network television coverage of major news events, including the mass shootings in Las Vegas, El Paso and the Pulse Nightclub, Gibson has proven his commitment to delivering news with unwavering integrity. His extensive experience includes network positions with ABC, MSNBC, CNN, and at iconic local television stations WJLA Washington and WFOR Miami.  Born in Belize, Central America, Gibson and his family immigrated to Brooklyn, where he grew up in Crown Heights. A globetrotter with a passion for languages, he has explored over fifty countries and studied languages like French, Spanish, and recently, Italian.  Beyond his journalistic pursuits, Gibson is deeply involved in philanthropy, serving on the boards of influential organizations. He contributes to Animal Haven in New York City, dedicated to rescuing dogs and cats globally, and the Waterkeepers Alliance, advocating for universal access to clean water. Additionally, Gibson is a valued member of the board of trustees for his alma mater, State University of Oswego.  Kendis Gibson's dynamic presence and unparalleled journalistic expertise make him a valuable addition to the PIX11 News family as one of New York’s Very Own. Viewers can catch him anchoring the 4 and 5 PM news, delivering local news that matters with passion, integrity and authenticity.
