Leveraging the scalability of Polytag, we achieved an impressive 20,000 20p rewards redeemed by Ocado customers in just 56 days. What's more, the post-pilot survey revealed fascinating insights customers are 71% more likely to scan a QR code for the convenience of kerbside pick-up, surpassing traditional reverse vending machines at 58%. Exciting Changes in Lidl's Self-Checkout System! Lidl, the popular supermarket chain, is making impressive strides in its plan to introduce self-checkout machines in all of its stores by the end of 2023. This move is set to transform the way we shop, giving enthusiasts of autonomous shopping a reason to rejoice. But that's not all! In addition to the introduction of self-checkout machines, Lidl has also implemented a revolutionary electronic labeling system (ELS) in all of its stores across Poland. These electronic price tags not only display prices but also provide other essential information, such as additional discounts. The introduction of ELS has reduced the workload for cashiers and contributes to eco-friendly practices by reducing paper waste. With over 850 Lidl stores in Poland, this is not only a cost-saving initiative but also a significant step towards sustainable solutions. Moreover, Lidl aims to cater to customers with large purchases by introducing XXL self-checkout machines. These machines can accommodate more products and offer an enhanced user experience with a larger packing area and a modified product category layout. Additionally, the XXL machines automatically scan fruits and vegetables with a sticker code. With its ambitious plans to equip every Lidl store with self-checkout machines and the introduction of XXL machines for customers with bigger shopping needs, Lidl is staying ahead of the curve in providing convenience and digitized shopping experiences. It was great to talk about reusable packaging at the E-Pack Europe Congress in Vienna, with my business partners and friends Thomas Fugl (RE-ZIP - Reusable packaging) and Doris Diebold (hey circle GmbH). My contribution was to look at this topic from the POV of a logistics integrator, like Österreichische Post AG. We introduced Post Loop recently to offer circular packaging for Austrian E-Commerce and today, I talked about our secret sauce: 1. Make returning reusable packaging easy and convenient for consumers. 2. Reward your consumers if they make the effort to return empty packaging. 3. Highlight the competitive advantage that a retailer gets with this additional green service. Following the successful launch of the Refill Coalition solution at Aldi Solihull, GoUnpackaged and The Refill Coalition are holding a series of Open Days this week for interested retailers, brands and organisations to learn more about the different elements of the solution: ●      In-store Solution: Dry Goods ●      Consumer Returnables Solution: Dry Goods & Liquids The Refill Coalition's solution is the first full scalable refill system that: ●      Removes single-use packaging from retailers: both primary and secondary ●      Reinvents the supply chain - removing single-use packaging - from when goods are produced at the factory to the consumers' cupboards at home. The current Aldi trial in Solihull is proving that consumers love its simple, hygienic, easy-to-use convenience which enables them to start to easily remove single-use packaging from their weekly shop. Kicking off today, all members of the Refill Coalition will be present and invitees will be able to visit the Refill Coalition gallery and test a mock-up of both solutions. Following that, we will be heading over to Aldi’s Solihull store to experience the live in-store Dry Goods solution as well as meet the Aldi team to gain insights and feedback on the pilot so far.
