The IMPACT LAB 40 years ago, one day, I was talking to my dad (He lost his hearing in 1980 cuz of a killer medicine's side effect called Streptomycin. I learned how to speak to a person who can't hear, thanks to my dad). He told me, "When you reach 40, everyone will have access to things, people will be skilled, you will have enough money, and so on. But remember, rarely will people have the ability to connect with humans; therefore, focus on human relationships." I took his advice to heart and started observing, unlearning, and rewiring myself. I converse with everyone from Uber drivers, BBMP ladies who clean the road, and the guy who serves food at a nearby restaurant, celebrities, to founders and CXOs of Fortune 100 companies. I speak to everyone as a human being without categorization and learned what empathy is from Ramakrishna Paramahansa. I have a special affinity for connecting with entrepreneurs. In the last 21 years, Pepper Square has incubated, nurtured, and supported 121 startups, some of which have become $2B companies. I did invest in 9 of them. We recently started "The Impact Lab," an initiative by Pepper Square to meet and listen to the challenges and needs of founders and CXOs who are building next-gen and scalable businesses. We use various methodologies to suit the business's needs and create a personalized roadmap for its success using our Design Thinking Workshops. It was a gratifying stretch, but recharging ahead of another big week became essential— and I'm glad I listened to my body.
