They can experience noise underwater and what it is like for deep-sea animals to use sound for communication and navigation. ⚓ Man-made noises force marine wildlife to adapt. Underwater acoustic pollution is aggravating due to increased human activity at sea, with shipping being the main source of anthropogenic noise. ↘️The Havforskningsinstituttet (Institute of marine research) is now suggesting a noise limit. Proud to finally premiere the teaser for the short documentary I've been working on this past year. Currently being showcased at various international festivals and soon to be released online. "Michel Paccalet, a local climber from the Chamonix Valley, shares his intimate perspective of the mountains by reflecting on the relationship between humans and their surrounding environment. How do we tackle challenges such as mass tourism or climate change in the epicenter of world mountaineering? A revealing journey as a reflection of an ever-accelerating society."

How do we create visitor experiences in Antarctica which are relevant for those from different cultures and with different needs? Currently we have two team members, Can-Seng Ooi and Dr Oscar Vorobjovas-Pinta in Antarctica, collecting data that will answer this question. This project is funded by the Australian Research Council Linkage Scheme, and Intrepid Travel. Our project will addresses the rapidly increasing concerns surrounding the increasing growth and diversification of the Antarctic tourism industry. We will develop a comprehensive, evidence-based framework promoting best practices for visitor experiences. The lead researchers for this ARC Grant are Elizabeth Leane, Anne Hardy, Can-Seng Ooi, Carolyn Philpott and Hanne Nielsen. 📆10th-12th of April 2024 🌊2024 OCEAN DECADE CONFERENCE 🇪🇸BARCELONA #OceanDecade24 Three years after the start of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), a global conference is bringing together the Ocean Decade community and partners to set joint priorities for the future of the Decade. Hosted by Spain and co-organized with UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC/UNESCO), the 2024 UN Ocean Decade Conference is being held over the next few days in the coastal city of Barcelona. This exciting 3-day, in-person event is an important milestone on the path to 2030, the event will cover the full range of Ocean Decade Challenges including critical issues such as #climatechange, #foodsecurity, #sustainablemanagementofbiodiversity, #sustainableoceaneconomy, #oceanpollution, and #naturalhazards.
