Our friends at Emerge Gallery and Art Center (Pitt County Arts Council) and partners just announced that Pitt County's non-profit arts and culture industry generated $18,037,461.00 in local economic impact in 2022, according to a newly release study from Americans for the Arts. Pitt County Non-Profit Arts & Culture Creative Economy Breakdown: $5,217,704 in event-related spending by its audiences $33.39 spent per person per event by the typical attendee, not including the cost of admission 24.7% of arts and culture attendees were from outside the county in which the activity took place $50.83 spent on average- all vital income for local merchants 87.9% of respondents agreed that the activity or venue they were attending was “a source of neighborhood pride for the community.” 78.3% said they would “feel a sense of loss if that activity or venue was no longer available.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eMiy_hV2 #creativeeconomy #artsandculture #supportthearts #tourism #visitgreenvillenc #greenvillenc #pittcountync

Many artists, driven by a pure passion for their work, often live frugally and redirect any money they make from their art back into their craft. In many cases, these artists—and their work—are the backbone of their communities, helping to usher in cultural, social, and political change. They represent the heart and soul of where they live, and we want to help them thrive. That's why we created StarvingArts.org. Most arts organizations have ambitions, ambitions to involve the community through arts projects. They also want to open their doors to up and coming talents in the community so they can show their work. Only problem is most non-profit organizations don’t have the capital to do any of these amazing projects. A big factor to that is how low ticket prices are sold. More times than not ticket prices are low because organizations believe if they keep their ticket price low, then they will keep their patrons happy. This only hurts YOU as an organization in the long run. Test your prices. You will never know the right price if you don’t test it. Food for thought 💭

3 Years ago today......All's Well That Crosses Well. Save the Adirondack 25 ranks as the most successful short term non-profit project that I have ever been a (small) part of, and perhaps even remove a lot of those limiting descriptors. The Adirondack 25 (Alco RSC2) had been sitting next to the Utica Children's Museum for decades, but a change in ownership meant it had to be moved quickly or scrapped. Short version, it was moved. The lessons include: 1 - Gather a team of good people, let everyone do what they are good at.....which is why you gathered them in the first place. 2 - Make sure your project has a defined purpose and scope that can be explained to potential donors and stakeholders. 3 - Never confuse the fact that a service does not have a cost with it not having a value. Show gratitude. Caption from that time: The day has arrived and ARC 25 has departed the Utica Children's Museum on Friday, December 18, 2020. It made a safe trip across to the Genesee Valley Transportation Co., Inc. Mohawk, Adirondack, and Northern where a mechanical assessment will be done before it is moved to the Remsen Depot.

Donating a car specifically to a museum like Miles Through Time Automotive Museum isn’t for everyone but there are a few good reasons to do it. First, donating a vehicle helps the museum and can share the donor's story with thousands of visitors. This is a great way for legacies to live on. Second: there is a financial benefit for the donor. Depending on the donor’s tax bracket a well-appraised vehicle could have significant value that can reduce the donor's taxable income and could be a huge difference when it comes to the taxable income percentage. Vehicles valued over $5k have to be professionally appraised when they are donated and it could mean significant tax savings while helping a museum at the same time. https://lnkd.in/dKHKT4Y
