Today, along with Darren Davidson and Matthew Knight, I had the privilege to be invited for several working meetings with UK government officials. At the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, we had constructive discussions about the role of #hydrogen to support #decarbonisation of energy systems and the importance of first of a kind projects to de-risk technology introduction. At the Department for Business and Trade, we discussed about international partnerships and the importance of private sector to support developing skills for the future. We are making great progress at Siemens Energy to deliver technologies for 100% H2 gas turbines and compressors for UK energy networks. We have a unique portfolio of technologies that can accelerate the energy transition in UK and abroad. By setting up Great British Energy and from recent appointments, it is clear that our new government recognises the importance of collaborating with the private sector to deliver a modern and decarbonised #energy system which will become a key element of the UK’s long-term growth. Last month, we shared the draft list of electricity infrastructure projects published by ENTSO-E for the #TYNDP. 👉 Today, we are here to announce that ENTSOG and ENTSO-E have released their latest report on the Interlinked Model (ILM) 2024. 👏 The report provides a comprehensive assessment methodology for both electricity and hydrogen, along with recommendations for integrated models to be used in the Cost Benefit Analyses of the Ten-Year Network Development Plans (#TYNDP). ✍ The decarbonization objectives of the European Union require the creation of a future-proof system that fosters cooperation between various energy carriers at both transmission and distribution levels. 🚀 A more integrated system, as advocated in the report, can yield significant benefits. It can enhance flexibility, enable more efficient use of resources, and increase the share of carbon-neutral energy. To achieve these objectives, it is essential to comprehend the behavior of such a complex integrated system. 👉 At N-SIDE, we work closely with the main energy actors in order to achieve a more sustainable future, and we believe that pieces of work such as this report are important milestones towards achieving this goal. 📢 On 7 September 2023, T&D Europe joined forces with ENTSO-E to support their EU Grid Forum under the patronage of EU Energy Commissioner, Kadri Simson. Over 200 European industry leaders met to exchange on opportunities and challenges for accelerating electricity grids, which are essential for Europe’s energy transition. Participants explored four key aspects required to deliver the energy transition: ⚡ Financing the necessary investments; ⚡ Regulatory & policy framework; ⚡ Manufacturing supply chains and skills; and ⚡ Working together. T&D Europe was actively involved and organised a session on the issue of supply chains and skills, with T&D Europe members companies highlighting that the technology for Europe's electricity system is available and they are supporting TSO's and DSO's in building the network for a climate-neutral Europe. This gathering highlighted the value of bringing the key players together to think collectively to find innovative solutions to address the challenges and we are eager to continue the dialogue that has begun!
