Dedicated Health Coach for Busy Professionals || Health Content Writer || Passionate Nurse & Health Influencer || I help you take control of your health journey through actionable insights and simple strategies.
THE TREND 📉📈 -- According to the US Sun (2024), the common use of the "of course" trend is to deliberately mimick the popular perceptions/stereotypes associated with a particular profession or individual. There are actually very popular misconceptions surrounding the nursing profession. But, I'm not going to dwell on that. I'm going to focus on what nurses are known for, and for which I believe the narrative should be. So, I'm leveraging the "of course" trend to say: I am a Nurse, Of Course, I am trained, qualified, and authorized by the appropriate regulatory authority to practice nursing. I am a Nurse, Of Course, I assess, plan, implement and evaluate high-quality person-centred nursing care using evidence-based knowledge, professional and clinical judgement. I am a Nurse , of course, I am kind, courteous, and concerned about my patients wellbeing. I am a Nurse, of course, I make sure my patients make informed decisions concerning their health and wellbeing. I am a Nurse, of course, my care cuts across the body, soul and spirit. I am a Nurse, of course, my role encompasses caring, teaching, counselling, health educating, advocating, coordinating, managing, leading, researching and collaborating. I am a Nurse, of course, I was trained, equipped, and empowered to make meaningful contribution to healthcare and lives in general. I am a Nurse, of course, I can work in a variety of healthcare settings and beyond, and I can also specialize in a number of different nursing specializations. I work as a public health nurse, a midwife, and I hope to become a nurse administrator and perioperative nurse. --------------------- What other narratives do you think our society should begin to have about nursing/nurses? What are the ways we can combat the common misconceptions? -- It's the end of January and whew!! What a month already. So far so good and God is faithful. Cheers to a new month in a few hours 🥂 #trends #nursingisnoble #notostereotypes #

Emergency Physician, Co-founder & CEO at Ivy Clinicians, Author of Emergency Medicine Workforce Newsletter
Per Kaufman Hall and Gist Healthcare: The nursing labor crisis has largely subsided at most hospitals. After peaking in 2021, the average hospital’s registered nurse (RN) turnover and vacancy rates in 2023 nearly returned to 2019 levels, at 18 percent and 10 percent respectively. Healthcare organizations of all types have attracted nursing talent through wage increases. Hospital-employed RNs saw a nearly 22 percent pay increase between 2019 and 2023, setting a higher floor for hospital labor costs. Although there were more employed RNs in hospital settings in 2023 than there were in 2019, 84 percent of net RN employment gains over that time period have been to non-hospital settings. This increase is likely a result of the pandemic accelerating the ongoing outpatient shift. While some individual hospitals and certain regions of the country may still be experiencing RN shortages, many organizations are now shifting their focus to longer-term labor strategy rather than short-term staffing challenges. #emergencymedicine American College of Emergency Physicians American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) Society of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistants (SEMPA) American Academy of Emergency Nurse Practitioners (AAENP)

Regulatory Compliance Expert✦ Clinical Leadership Development ✦Operational Excellence Consultant✦ I help LTC/CCRC facilities achieve exceptional regulatory compliance, clinical excellence, and operational efficiency.
F 725 🌟 Raising the Bar for Resident Care: New Minimum Nurse Staffing Standards in Long-Term Care 🌟 ⏩As healthcare professionals, we understand the pivotal role that adequate nurse staffing plays in delivering high-quality, safe care to our most vulnerable patients. That’s why the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently finalized new minimum nurse staffing standards for long-term care (LTC) facilities—a significant development. 🏥 Setting a National Baseline: These standards establish a baseline across all LTC facilities to reduce the risk of unsafe and low-quality care for residents. Specifically, CMS now requires a minimum of 3.48 hours per resident day (HPRD) of total direct nursing care. Registered Nurses (RNs) contribute at least 0.55 HPRD, while nurse aides provide 2.45 HPRD. 🤝 Flexibility and Vital Contributions: Facilities can utilize a combination of RNs, licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPNs/LVNs), and nurse aides to meet staffing requirements. This recognizes the vital contributions of all direct care nurses in supporting resident wellbeing. 🌱 Continuous Improvement: While these are minimum thresholds, CMS encourages LTC facilities to assess their unique resident acuity and care needs. ⏩The commitment to ongoing evaluation and public engagement signals CMS’s dedication to continually improving nurse staffing standards. ⏩Let’s advocate for resident safety and quality of care, elevate staffing levels, and empower our nursing teams to deliver exceptional care. ⏩Together, we can ensure that compassion and competence guide every long-term care journey. 💙👩⚕️👨⚕️ #HealthcareLeadership #NurseStaffing #QualityCare # Long term care # Nursing home # Regulatory # Compliance https://bit.ly/3T5Kymo

Many hospitals are seeing nurse staffing levels stabilize after several years marked by significant shortages. While a welcome trend for the nation's healthcare system, it presents a new challenge. Here are our main takeaways: 💡With younger nurses entering the workforce, mentoring and growth opportunities are essential for retention. 💡Hackensack Meridian Health is launching a nurse science fellowship to equip bedside nurses with quality improvement skills. 💡Empowering nurses with advanced skills not only enhances patient care but also boosts career growth. #NurseLeadership #ProfessionalDevelopment #HealthcareInnovation
