Three years ago today, I launched Talent Butler from my kitchen table, surrounded by 200 jars of blue and white chocolate buttons I wanted to use to promote the business. Back then, I had limited funds, so I sourced jars from China, printed labels on Vistaprint, found little bow ties on eBay, and got sweets from our local party supply shop. I personally filled the jars, stuck the labels, and glued on the bow ties late into the evening. This may be a metaphor for starting a business. While it might have been easier to outsource, my perfectionist mindset drove me to ensure everything met the right standard. Today, that mentality still defines us. We have core values, processes, and systems that guarantee a first-class service, fostering #confidence and #transparency in all that we do. One crucial lesson I've learned is that taking the easy road doesn't always lead to learning. It all comes back to never saying "I don't know how" but instead saying, "I will learn how, and I will do it." Not everything went according to plan. Originally, I intended to go into partnership, but that didn't work out. It was a tough decision, but going solo, despite the challenges, proved to be the right outcome. Since our launch, we have achieved significant milestones... 🚀 ✅Placed hundreds of permanent roles in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. ✅Opened a Melbourne office. ✅Raised tens of thousands of dollars for our charity partners. ✅Maintained a 100% five-star rating on Google and Sourcr Reviews. ✅Hosted three annual property leaders cruises. ✅Sponsored Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney (rmhcsydney) at Royal Randwick Racecourse. ✅Continued to invest in new technologies to improve business efficiencies. ✅Established our bespoke "Executive Search" brand. ✅Hired some fantastic recruiters. As for the future, I remain grounded and equally enthusiastic about filling roles as I am about filling jars of sweets. I tried a few different things, pivoted quick enough, before realizing what was in front of me all along… One day, I got an email from someone & the brief was: launch a hospitality business in St Barths. No small feat unless you're sitting on 100 mil in real estate.
