May 11th marks a significant day as Governor Roy Cooper has declared it North Carolina's technology day. 🚀 New Joint Lab is opened! Together with RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich we have taken our collaboration to the next level with the official opening of a Joint Lab on semiconductor-based quantum computing in Frankfurt (Oder). This lab focuses on advancing scalable quantum computer architectures and enhancing spin-based qubit technologies. During the opening, Prof Dr Hendrik Bluhm, alongside Dr Lars Schreiber (RWTH Aachen) and Dr. Vincent Mourik (FZ Jülich), presented the state-of-the-art research that will be crucial for the development of next-gen quantum technologies. Also, Prof Dr Gerhard Kahmen stressed the potential of quantum technologies, particularly Si/SiGe-based approaches, to solve complex, previously unsolvable problems. The Joint Lab is fully equipped with top-notch infrastructure for fabricating quantum devices, including the first successfully tested silicon quantum wells. Dr. Marvin H. Zöllner, coordinator of the lab, highlighted its role in driving forward innovations in preparation for the Quantum Year 2025. This partnership aims to unlock the potential of quantum computing to tackle real-world problems by scaling up to millions of qubits. Yes, the aim is very ambitious but we are optimistic to reach it together with the enthusiastic colleagues from the Joint Lab. BIG boost for Illinois to become the nation's quantum hub as Gov. JB Pritzker and Intersect Illinois announced the launch of the Quantum Proving Ground in collaboration with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This collaboration represents a major investment from DARPA and its federal partners, matched by the State of Illinois, over the next five years to test and evaluate quantum computing. DARPA has a proven history of making crucial early investments in cutting-edge technologies at the earliest stages, such as the internet. Quantum is the next major shift in computing — exponentially faster and far more secure than current technology — which can accelerate drug discovery and biopharmaceutical cures for diseases. The road for tomorrow is built today, and that includes the quantum future. ⚛️ Physics professor and IQUIST Director Brian DeMarco showcased the power of quantum technologies at both the Illinois and U.S. capitol over the course of a month. The goal? Showing state and federal leaders what quantum technology is capable of.

Since January 2022, we at ParityQC have been working on MUNIQC-Atoms: a joint project of 18 partners with the goal of building a quantum computing demonstrator based on neutral atoms. The quantum computing demonstrator is currently being built in the lab of Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics - coordinators of the project - and will be part of the Munich Quantum Valley ecosystem. In this new article, we're happy to share with you the latest progress of our joint work, over two years in, such as: - the development of fast and native multi-qubit gates tailored for neutral atoms - a lab demonstration of quantum control over ultra cold atoms - the exploration of different qubit encodings, efficient circuit compilation and platform-specific quantum error correction It's an honour for us to be part of this project, contributing to a meaningful advancement of neutral-atom quantum computing.
