JYSK celebrates EU Diversity Month 2024 🌟 “Let’s build a more inclusive society together.” 🙌 That is the overall message of EU Diversity Month 2024, which JYSK is actively supporting this year. With an inclusive campaign and personal stories from employees across Europe, we want to put a spotlight on the importance of creating inclusive workplaces. 💡 💬 “With more than 31,000 employees in 48 different countries, we naturally have a very diverse community among our colleagues, but it is also important that they feel included at work. JYSK is a workplace for everyone, where everyone is valued and appreciated for who they are as individuals. I am proud to see that our employees also experience this in their work life,” says Rami Jensen, President & CEO at JYSK. Why the fixation on "culture fit" in recruitment? Perhaps it's time to shift our focus to "culture add." 🌟 This insight hit home thanks to the wisdom shared by Karoli Hindriks of Jobbatical at the Eesti HR Selts / Estonian HR Society Summit yesterday. Consider this: If we're recruiting for a sales team of white millennials who share the habit of calling each other "dude" and enjoy Friday gatherings, the conventional "culture fit" would be another individual fitting that mold, another "dude". But, pause for a moment. How does this approach contribute to organizational growth and development? How does it foster team evolution, bringing forth new ideas, strategies, and results? Certainly, there are nuances to both "culture fit" and "culture add." Yet, by striking a balance between the two, we open the door to incredible possibilities. We launched our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) program at CIG three years ago. Since then, we have sparked a variety of initiatives to improve employee experience. We’ve learned a great deal along the way. For one thing, our employee engagement survey feedback brought to light the importance of community. As I reflect on this, I’d like to share my thoughts on how valuable the I, or Inclusion, is to the full value of DEI. To me, Diversity and Equity illustrate how everyone wants to feel appreciated for who they are and the need to be treated fairly. Inclusion, meanwhile, is recognizing the individual's desire to be part of a larger community. I believe there are two sides to the inclusion coin. One side where people are looking for opportunities to get together and share. On the other, folks might feel like they’re not being included or may even feel excluded. This is where the “I” comes to play in Inclusion. Creating an inclusive environment becomes the responsibility of everyone. We cannot solely rely on our HR department or committees to foster inclusivity. Therefore, our staff is encouraged to uphold the “I” in inclusivity with the phrase, “I will be inclusive.” By making it personal, we stand a better chance of creating an environment where everyone is excited about having more opportunities to be together. I have promised that I will make this personal, and I will be inclusive. What about you?

Last year International Women’s day theme was Equity. As we celebrate 2024 International Women’s Day at Vision Built it was good to reflect on how we have grown and changed: - Women in our team have increased from 6 to 18%. - ⁠40% of our summer and industrial placements were female - ⁠We’ve completed an employee engagement survey and established a focus group with our female colleagues to hear more about opportunities and challenges. We attended CIF International Women’s day conference and pledged as a business to develop a modular manufacturing traineeship in 2024 which will help drive diversity in our industry. #womensday2024 #diversityandinclusion
