📽️ Excited to unveil the newest #Planet’sPulse episode, recorded at last week's ChangeNOW , spotlighting Accor's sustainability journey with CO2 AI. Featuring insights from Quentin Witvoet, Carbon Manager at Accor, this narrative showcases the power of collaboration in tackling #Scope3Emissions.
🛎️ Accor, a prominent sustainability-driven hospitality group, prioritized enhancing its environmental impact measurement, notably in Scope 3 emissions. Operating across 110+ countries with a commitment to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050.
🚀 Accor chose CO2 AI to meet their target while expanding globally.
CO2 AI helps them gather detailed information from hotels through tailored surveys, ensuring accurate calculations of Scope 3 emissions for each location:
- Measure carbon footprint of 5,500+ hotels individually
- Account emissions for 11 different categories such as laundry, food & beverage, beds and mattresses…
- All data exported into Accor’s internal system ensuring centralized availability and visualization
- Automated calculations enable Accor to obtain a footprint refresh in a minute based on updated data
Thank you Quentin Witvoet for your vision and leadership.

🤔 Ever wondered how large hotel groups manage their environmental impact across different countries?
With CO2 AI, Accor is increasing the accuracy of its Scope 3 measurement across its 5,500+ hotels in over 110 countries!
Key achievements:
1. Custom surveys to capture hotel-specific data such as linen composition, laundry processes, and IT equipment usage.
2. +1,800 emissions factors matched to obtain the highest level of accuracy
3. Automated footprint updates in just a minute based on new emissions data.

In the midst of the excitement surrounding AI and the challenges facing traditional broadcast industries, it’s crucial to remind ourselves of the pressing need for climate action and the role our sector can play. Supporting sustainable travel to industry events is one such simple yet impactful step. It not only highlights the latest initiatives to reduce GHG emissions but also shows how IBC attendees can reach the RAI without exceeding their carbon or financial budgets. After the chaos at Schiphol a few years ago during IBC, many may already have reconsidered air travel to Amsterdam.
If, as predicted, AI dominates every booth and bar at this year's IBC, we must equally challenge those working with AI to evaluate its environmental impact and be transparent about it. Let’s hope the Green Line initiative continues to grow, and that it extends to other trade shows, because sustainability should be at the heart of every conversation.

On average, America’s hotels spend $2,196 per available room each year on energy, about 6 percent of all operating costs. But what if AI could lend a hand?
⬇ Here are three ways big hotel chains are tackling energy costs with AI:
🍃 Hilton's Billion-Dollar Bet on AI:
▶ Hilton's LightStay platform has saved over $1 billion by optimizing energy, water, and waste management. This includes a 30% reduction in carbon emissions and waste, plus a 20% drop in water and energy use.
🍃 Marriott Plugs into the Future with MESH:
▶ Marriott’s MESH uses AI to track and optimize energy use across its hotels. Thanks to MESH, they have slashed carbon emissions by 24.6% per square meter since 2016 and saved around 45,000 MWh of energy.
🍃 IHG’s Green Engage Edge:
▶ This platform analyzes performance data to recommend energy-saving measures. IHG aims to reduce GHG emissions by 46% by 2030 from a 2019 baseline, supporting hotels in cutting costs and advancing sustainability.
AI has incredible potential to slash your energy bills and boost sustainability. Interested? Let's chat about how Inclusion Cloud's solutions can help your hotel achieve both!

[🎬 Replay of the discussion with Brune Poirson, Chief Sustainability Officer & Executive Committee Member at Accor, at the Adopt AI #Summit by Artefact] on how to combine the use of AI and environmental transition.

💼 Brune Poirson, former Secretary of State for Ecological and Environmental Transition (2017-2020), is now the Chief Sustainability Officer at Accor. Poirson’s current mission is to guide Accor, a global hospitality company, toward a #sustainablemodel amidst accelerating climate change and social inequalities.
Key insights from the discussion between Brune Poirson and Lucie Marchais:
🔹 For #sustainability, Accor must rethink its business model. As a leading #hospitalitycompany, it opens one hotel per day. The key challenge is shifting from a quantity-based to a quality-based model, transforming hotels into “third spaces” for work, meetings, and activities to optimize underutilized spaces.
🔹 Accor's sustainable operations focus on three areas: #waterconservation by replacing bathtubs with showers, shifting to less meat-based menus to #reducecarbon and water footprints, and promoting bicycles and trains over aviation through partnerships like the one with SNCF.
🔹 AI helps manage large environmental datasets, improve weather predictions, and enhance decision-making. It can forecast climate impacts, aiding industries in planning and adaptation, such as determining where and what type of housing to build.
🔹 For #foodwaste reduction, #AItools like connected scales help kitchens track and reduce waste by identifying patterns and improving menu planning. Predictive tools like “Full Soon” forecast guest numbers and preferences, enhancing efficiency and reducing waste.
🔹 AI enhances personalized guest experiences through advanced #chatbots, tailoring services like room temperature settings. It also frees hotel staff from repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on #guestinteraction. Accor uses AI to accelerate employee training and development, empowering staff and providing career growth opportunities.
🗣 “Increasingly, we need to move away from mitigation but really to adaptation, and that's where adaptation is a real challenge and that's where AI can really help,” says Brune Poirson.
