Turning the tide on food waste isn't just about saving what's on our plates. It's about creating a world where everyone has enough to eat and reducing waste so our environment thrives. Every time we recover and donate food, we're stepping up to fight hunger and reduce our carbon footprint. Canteen wants to make food recovery the norm, not the exception. In the last year, we've donated 387,000 pounds of food to @FeedingAmerica and 322,00 meals to hunger-fighting agencies. As the holiday season approaches, we hope you'll join us in making a difference. Don't waste, donate! #FoodRecovery, #EndHunger, #FoodDonation, #FoodDrive, #FoodForAll #ZeroWaste, #Sustainability, #ChooseCanteen

Food waste is out, sustainability is in! Recent studies by @ReFED show that food waste in California is on the decline, with consumers and businesses wasting 10% less food than 2016. This slow but steady victory shows that reducing food waste is worth the effort, as this also decreases the amount of water being wasted, CO2 being emitted, and money being thrown away. Keep up the good work California! #foodforward #foodwaste #zerowaste #sustainability #community #volunteer #donate #nonprofit #fundraising #communityengagement #foodjustice #dogood #makeadifference #foodrecovery #donation #instagood #bethechange #kindness #joyfulness #giving #foodinsecurity #produce #communityfirst #helpothers #losangeles #california

To mark Food Waste Action Week 2024 we will be sharing some of the ways that FareShare's Network and partners tackle food waste and hunger by unlocking surplus food in the supply chain and redistributing it to charities and community groups across the UK. Even with more and more people needing food support, there can still be stigma around getting help. Surplus food helps change the conversation around food support, empowering people and bringing communities together around a positive cause. In a recent survey FareShare did, we found over 89% of people who accessed food services from charities we support felt good about food waste. 💬 A food service user in Tayside and Fife said: "It removes a lot of the stigma attached to food bank use, so you don't have to feel embarrassed to use it. Some people can judge you when using it." Supporting local communities to come together and connect through surplus food is central to the way that the FareShare Network operates 💚

Did you know that 33% of all food produced globally is lost or wasted every year, and that 8% of all greenhouse gas emissions each year are due to food loss and waste? 👎 To combat food waste, we've joined WRAP's Courtauld Commitment 2030 initiative to reduce waste and emissions by one-fifth. We're working closely with WRAP to cut waste throughout our supply chain and in the home. At Quorn, we started to collect food waste data in 2019. By the end of 2023, we achieved a 32% reduction of food waste and all our food waste is now sent to anaerobic digestion to make renewable energy! We have also worked with likeminded partners such as FoodCycle, FareShare UK, and The Bread and Butter Thing to combat food waste and support communities. #sustainability #foodwaste
In 2023, we rescued 239 tonnes of food from going in the bin. That's equivalent to the weight of: 🐘 84 elephants 🚗 116 cars 🥑 3,107,000 avocados 🐳 A blue whale (and then some) 🔔 17 Big Ben bells 🗽 The Statue of Liberty 🚌 24 school buses We turn food waste into nutritious and delicious 3-course meals for communities in need across the UK. We are so proud of what we have achieved so far and our goal is to expand even further to save more food and reach more people. For this week only, thanks to the Big Give, any donation made to FoodCycle will be matched. This means that when you contribute to our mission of ending food waste, both your donation and its impact will be doubled. Thank you so much ❤️ 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eRixqH9c #TheBigGive #FoodCycle #FoodWaste #EndFoodWaste #BigGiveGreenMatchFund #NoMorefoodWaste #ClimateChange #EarthDay

Did you know that more than one-quarter of food produced is wasted globally each year? This has major social, environmental and economic consequences. It’s common for delegate numbers to fluctuate in the lead-up to an event and estimating food quantities can be tricky. At The CCD, we ensure that regular communication between clients and the hospitality manager about likely numbers can allow for adjustments in catering requirements. This helps to avoid producing unnecessary food and, in turn, reducing food waste. Other initiatives, such as donating food to local schools or charities are creative ways to manage waste after an event. Today, on Stop Food Waste Day, we want to highlight some tips and tricks you can easily implement in to your daily life to make small but significant changes in how we care for our food.

Introducing the Food Donation API 🍽️ I am thrilled to share my latest project: the Food Donation API. This API is designed to tackle two significant issues—food waste and hunger in our communities. What is the Food Donation API? The Food Donation API is a web service that allows users to easily donate surplus food to NGOs and organizations that support those in need. With this API, donors can submit information about the food they wish to donate, while NGOs can manage and view available donations, making the process efficient and straightforward. Key Features: 1. Easy Donations: Users can quickly submit food donations through a simple interface. 2. Manage Donations: NGOs can view, update, and delete donations, ensuring they have access to the most current information. 3. Reduce Food Waste: By connecting donors with NGOs, we can significantly minimize food waste and help feed those who are struggling. Why It Matters: Food waste is a pressing global issue, with millions of tons thrown away each year while many people face hunger. By bridging the gap between donors and NGOs, we can create a positive impact in our communities and help those in need. Call to NGOs: If you are running an NGO and are interested in using this API for free, please feel free to DM me! I believe that together we can make a difference and support those who need it most. Let's work hand in hand to create a sustainable future and ensure that no one goes hungry! #FoodDonation #NGO #CommunitySupport #FoodWaste #Sustainability #OpenSource
