🔌🔋Charging my rental EV in South-West France in the middle of nowhere 🌾🔎 🇫🇷 When planning our summer trip we were a little nervous about taking an #EV as our rental car. It’s this unknowing way of thinking that there might not be enough #chargingstations around since we spent most of the time in the rural area. But when I checked out the area in different apps, I found several #chargepoints and told myself that we’ll be fine. The pic is taken in Le Vigan, a tiny village about 150 km North of Toulouse. The charge point had a capacity of 37 kW and using it was super easy. The CPOs slogan was “Badger, brancher, charger” which means “show your card, plug in, charge”. Thanks to #AFIR paying was super user friendly too - either with credit card or QR code. After 45-60 minutes we were good to go again. During that time we went to a sweet little coffee shop fairly close to the station (7 min walk) and enjoyed a delicious French croissant 🥐. All in all, I was surprised that in the rural area we mainly found #AC charge points up to 37 kW (most of them were between 11-22 kW). Only at the highway or in big cities like Toulouse you would find #DC charging stations. And in the end: we were definitely fine and our rental EV experience turned out even better than we thought! #emobility #charginginfrastructure #vattenfall #incharge #future #fossilfreemobility

To convince more of the country’s more than half a million car owners to switch to EVs, Singapore plans to install 60,000 charging points by 2030, including 40,000 in public car parks. That works out to an EV to charger ratio of about 5-to-1, putting the country in the lead for charging infrastructure in Southeast Asia. It also puts Singapore ahead of the global average ratio of 10-to-1, and 7-to-1 in China, the top market for EVs. But Singapore is sticking to its stance of not encouraging car ownership, and EVs still cost a lot.

‘Share the Road’ #mobility “If you’ve taken a city bike or electric scooter for a spin, used a ride-hailing app, ridden public transit, or even walked on an open street, you’ve experienced “shared mobility.” Shared mobility maximizes the limited space on city streets by making the ways we get around more efficient, right-sized, on-demand, and—you guessed it—shared. Sharing our roadways is a custom we have forgotten for nearly a century. Today, as much as 30 percent of the land area in American cities is dedicated to roads, parking, and other automobile infrastructure. But car-centric mobility has come at a huge cost. Cars eroded our common experiences and our common spaces as vehicles began to dominate our streets. Although nearly 92 percent of U.S. households have at least one car, they’re a costly investment: around $12,000 a year. Even worse is the human toll: 46,000 people died on U.S. roads in 2021.”

60,000 recharging points by 2030 has no meaning to a typical Singaporean family that lives within HDB apartment with multi-storey car parks. Anyone will want to know how many EV registered to season parking at this car park, where usually at least 3 recharging points are available. If the ratio is 1:10, then that particular multi-storey car park cannot have more than 30 EV registered for Season Parking. At this moment, no transparency or system, this will result to Singaporean neither go EV or Hybrid, as Hybrids are more expensive than ICE for convenience.
