#AutonomousVehicles very safe, and provide a crucial #mobility option for a variety of riders. We were thrilled to have hosted a group of folks from a local assisted living facility who wanted to experience CranesRIDES, our AV system launched in July by the City of Altamonte Springs, FDOT Central Florida + Florida Department of Transportation, and Beep, Inc. One of our visitors, Lloyd told us that he was 99-years old and wanted to try out our system. Beep's vehicles are all #ADA-compliant, and can host riders in wheelchairs and walkers. Lloyd said "I have arrived!" as he was getting off CraneRIDES. He said he never thought he'd see this kind of stuff. Well, he did and we were honored to be a part of that moment for him! AV mobility can provide a safe, clean, and convenient option for people. One of the purposes of CraneRIDES is to create a "how to" manual that the State and the City can share with other cities in Florida to help them efficiently launch AV systems in their communities too. Both the City and Beep are proud members of the Automated. Connected. Electric. Shared. (ACES) Mobility Coalition - which is a national group helping to inform and influence federal legislation relating to safe transportation modes, like AV systems, that are shared, connected and smarter, and that do not require expensive, unmovable legacy infrastructure that cannot easily change as communities change. That also benefits taxpayers too, and that is our focus as well.
"I have arrived!"- Lloyd, resident in City of Altamonte Springs Riders of all ages are embracing the future of transportation across all of our project areas. This was Lloyd's first ride on an autonomous shuttle and he still couldn't believe it. Thank you for your partnership, Altamonte Springs, in creating programs that connect and engage communities. We are excited to be on this journey with you.

🫢 Outside of my teams, I have never shared my 3 important criteria for work. Want to know the secret?! 🤫 1. Great people 2. Great challenges 3. Great progress 📖 Here is an applied example: I loved working for American Airlines technology! It was nearly 10 years before choosing to switch. Their leadership and teams were fantastic. They met all three. COVID hit them hard, but I knew they were still headed on the right track and history has proven this to be true. 💡 All of these criteria have a subjective lens. "Great progress" is one that is key for me, because I have expected "Great people" and "Great challenges" my entire career. ❔Why would I leave a company I loved? 😱 Another personal rule has sway: consider jobs and interviewing every year and keep your resume up to date. That's right! I'd tell my own people that advice. Doing this actually improves your CURRENT job by opening your eyes to industry needs, organizational patterns, role opportunities, and most importantly how to improve yourself in your EXISTING job. BUT, you have to actively acknowledge and practice not allowing unknown opportunities to erode or outright ruin your today; especially when today was just fine until you started thinking about "some day". I always loved the quote, "head in the clouds; feet on the ground." So, keep your feet on the ground. 😎 As a result, I am always entertaining "what's next". Mostly at my current company (don't worry CarMax 😏), but I let the outside influence the inside too. How else would I learn about GitHub hiring a Sr. Director of external Developer Advocacy, many companies hiring for DevEx and platform engineering, Gradle discussing Productivity Engineering, etc. in ways that influence my CURRENT role? 🤝 A CarMax recruiter came to me two years and 11 months ago with a personalized message including how my experience could align to what CarMax was doing and asked for an opportunity to talk. We talked... and, we kept talking. CarMax is also an awesome company with all three criteria. Yesterday, they celebrated 30 years from a 90s startup and they work hard to maintain a world-class culture with a start-up mentality toward progress while fully acknowledging that scale changes the game. 🥳 🏔️ I will note that "Great progress" includes some hills and mountains that may feel like you'll never reach the summit let alone enjoy the ride down the other side; or, that summits never end. The view is always amazing up there. 🙋🏽♂️🙋🏽♀️ But, how did I decide? That might not be the best question. The one for you to explore might be, "how will you decide?" And, "how can you make your current company better?" Contribute to the solution! Be creative and transparent. Consider opportunities both where you are and outside. *Whether a company is meeting your version of these 3 criteria is up to you. Put in the hard work. Get past feeling "stuck" as a team player. Don't deny yourself and others great partnership opportunities.
Yesterday, our 30th anniversary celebration continued with CarMax ringing the closing bell at the NYSE! The event included several founding associates who have been with CarMax from the very beginning and leaders from across the company. Bill Nash, CarMax CEO, rang the bell and Laura Donahue, VP of Corporate Social Responsibility and founding CarMax associate, struck the gavel. It was an incredible moment to celebrate the longevity of our company and our associates' many contributions to our success. Here's to the next 30!

Living near an airport often means dealing with noise from air traffic. However, the aviation industry is making strides with revolutionary technology that enables quieter flights. From enhancing the flying experience to fulfilling the desire to explore the world from above, aviation not only reduces travel time but is promising to minimizes noise. Yet, eventually increasing number of airborne vehicles raises concerns about visual pollution, especially as they fly at lower altitudes. Balancing the benefits of futuristic air travel with potential visual disruptions is a crucial consideration for the evolving landscape of transportation. #evtol #vtol #airmobility #transport #mobility #airtaxi #urbanmobility #urbandevelopment #urbantransport
Quiet Skies For All — We know that the key to unlocking the skies above cities is to take a revolutionary approach to aircraft noise, and that’s exactly what we’ve done. During a typical cruise flight from JFK to Manhattan, we’ll barely be audible against the background environment of New York City.
