Jersey City Approves High Rise at 829 Bergen Avenue A narrow lot in Journal Square that has been home to a vacant building for many years is slated to be revitalized into a new rental complex that will add even more residents to a growing Jersey City neighborhood. The parcel is a narrow lot spanning about 6,800 square feet next to the St. George and St. Shenouda Coptic Orthodox Church. The two-story brick building at the land dates to 1940 and was once home to the Samuel Reynolds Glass Co. despite remaining empty in recent times. Drawn up by Hoboken-based MVMK Architecture + Design, the approved plan calls for the complete demolition of the current structures to be replaced with an 11-story building that will rise 122 feet at the tallest point. The structure will be decidedly modern compared to its surroundings, sporting a tiered design that allows outdoor balcony spaces on select apartments. A total of 77 units will be built within the complex, breaking down as 30 studios, 27 one-bedrooms, 19 two-bedroom units, and a single three-bedroom space. Four of the apartments, or 5% of the total, will be set aside as affordable housing. A resident lounge is included on the first floor of the development, while the top of the structure will feature a 1,500 square foot common roof deck. #jerseycity #realestate #journalsquare #bergen #housing

“Details create the big picture.” Creating a design that was sympathetic to the period features of the Grade II listed building was paramount with our project working with Raymond James, a rapidly growing wealth management firm. With the building being situated within the Guildhall Conservation area, it was vital that special consideration was made to design to the heritage status of the building. It was important that Raymond James’s new office respected and highlighted the building's architectural history and this was our guiding principle. Just some of the ways we did this.. - Reimagining Meeting Spaces: We introduced feature wall panelling that echoed the history of the original period details - Crittal glazing complemented the meeting space with a sleek, modern edge, letting light into the rest of the building. - Preserving Windows: The building’s original Juliet windows were preserved and refurbished to ensure the building's heritage remained intact. This project stands as a testament to the fact that respecting history does not mean forgoing modernity, but the two can work together, as long as it is carried out sympathetically and thoughtfully. We are delighted with the end result of this 2200 sq.ft space in the heart of the city. #TBT to one of our largest projects, which saw us transform a disused office block in Portsmouth into 153 apartments for students. The £11m design-and-build project also required the construction of two ground-floor retail units. Our team enhanced the building’s exterior with a new roof and masonry for the curtain walling system. All windows were replaced with high-specification Schüco windows combined with green glazed panels to bring colour to the scheme. The windows were manufactured using anodised aluminium on the outside to increase durability and improve aesthetics. Following a design recommendation from Vale Southern, a polyester powder was used to coat the inside of the windows, enabling any future repairs to be carried out more easily and cost-effectively. Internally, the new flats include studios with designated study areas, and apartments with en-suite bathrooms. Mechanical and electrical services were installed, plus two lifts. The entrance area was remodelled and shells created for the retail units. https://ow.ly/OBFo50Rp6FW #construction #studentaccommodation #designandbuild #residential

Residential Case Study: James House, York James Homes is a temporary accommodation for homeless refuge. Once an old office building, this development has been renovated into 57 apartments of one, two and three bedrooms that can provide emergency accommodation for 160 people. The city-centre refurbishment includes wheelchair-accessible rooms, a new-build entrance foyer, meeting rooms and staff spaces. The apartments have separate bedrooms, living space, and a shower room and storage. Cellecta’s Mojave S1-8 was specified by City of York Council due to it being a lightweight option for an acoustic composite floor build-up. This system has a low energy use, reducing running costs and CO₂ emissions, which benefits the environment. Robertson Group was supplied 3,200m² of Cellecta product for this development at James Street in York. 🏢 Beaulieu: Harmony between Demolition and Conservation Atenor and AG Real Estate in collaboration with the BMA are delighted to present a real estate initiative designed by a2o, VELD and Kollektif Landscape for their project Beaulieu. This challenging development for residential housing balances demolition and preservation. 💡 The southern bays of the building retain the original architectural elements, while the northern bays benefit from new openings and volumes. The atrium is transformed into an interior street. Vis-à-vis between dwellings is avoided thanks to an ingenious double orientation. 💡The residential typologies are diversified, with adaptable programming for flats, offices, and co-living spaces. 💡The building's post-modern architecture has been reinterpreted with brick accents, giving it an attractive residential character. A large bicycle storage area on the ground floor provides easy access to the future urban boulevard. This development is highly praised for its coherent integration of constraints and its adaptive reuse approach. We look forward to seeing this initiative contribute to a sustainable and dynamic urban future. #AdaptiveReuse #Preservation #Sustainable #DynamicUrbanFuture.

One of the key aspects of a great room is its ability to foster socializing. Whether it's hosting lively gatherings, intimate conversations, or family game nights, the open layout encourages interaction among occupants, creating bonds and memories that enrich the fabric of family life. Great rooms often feature high ceilings, expansive floor space, and open layouts, creating a sense of spaciousness and connectivity. They are designed to facilitate socializing, entertaining, and relaxation, making them a central hub of activity within a home. . . . #blackstoneconstruction #blackstone #birminghamal #birmingham #alabama #commericalconstruction #commerical #construction #residentialconstruction #residential #architecture #blackstonebuilt #constructionindustry #buildingdesign #contractors #constructionwork #propertydevelopment #constructionsite #renovation #constructionlife #buildingsolutions #constructionmanagement

Studies and the tests of time have shown the resiliency of The Dome. So, #EmergencyManagement comrades: BRIC funding applicable? Let me know your thoughts.

A dome-centered residential complex featuring a collection of white, dome-shaped structures nestled within a tropical environment. Each dome has a simplistic and contemporary design with a single door and window visible from this perspective. These structures are arrayed neatly along curving pathways, suggesting a planned community or a special housing development. The landscape is sparsely vegetated, indicating either a new development or an arid climate, and the surrounding hills hint at a secluded location. The domes could represent an innovative approach to housing, possibly emphasizing energy efficiency and disaster resilience.
