Sales Rep A: Hires a "virtual assistant", gives them no training, doesn't manage them, and then complains that hiring overseas team members doesn't work. Sales Rep B: Understand they are hiring a HUMAN from another country, not a robot. Clearly defines what success in the role looks like. Clearly outlines & documents the task(s) they want to be completed. Clearly defines a reporting cadence of deliverables & a way to track them so they don't micromanage. They end up loving overseas talent and crushing their competition. Hate to break it to you: If you have had bad experiences with overseas talent, most likely, it's a YOU problem.

🌎 In a world (not far away) where almost everyone is receiving comms via GenAI, how does your customer support and success team stand out from the rest? 1. Deep Product Knowledge: The best support agents or CSMs are PASSIONATE about how their systems work. They know the in's and out's, the short cuts, the powerful use cases and the places where the product doesn't exceed the competition. GenAI is great at responding to requests but it's not always going to be honest with you or give you the most accurate response. Reward your deepest product experts (with $$$). There's likely not many of them out there if they leave. 2. Building Relationships: Encourage your team to build genuine relationships with customers. Remembering past interactions and personal details can make customers feel valued and appreciated. Give your support team members the ability or budget to send the customer small gifts, swag or tokens of appreciation (with no questions asked). 3. Hiring for resourceful-ness: While GenAI is good at crawling all of the data in your system, if that GenAI tool only has access to your support ticket + knowledge base data (cough...Zendesk), then your team members will need the resourceful-ness to think across systems to find answers. Ideally your CS team is using HubSpot Service Hub, so they can see all of their marketing+sales+CS data in one place, but if they're not, then you need to hire for folks who can connect dots on separate screens and systems.
