I had the pleasure of spending time and making a presentation to our class of 2024 summer interns at LG Electronics North America. The purpose was to share my career journey and share my roles, responsibilities, and experiences. I wanted to leave them with valuable advice that was passed on to me early in my career, as they begin their journey in the business world after graduation. 1) Your career isn’t going to be defined by one job. Don’t stress, you will find your rhythm 2) Ask questions…knowledge is power for making informed decisions and shows people that you want to learn 3) Don’t be a keyboard warrior – get off your chair and have a conversation 4) Be comfortable….being uncomfortable. Adversity will make you more confident 5) Have a plan when tackling a project and share it with stakeholders before you implement. Clearly state your objectives, desired result, set KPIs and success metrics. Get their buy-in! 6) Mistakes happen – embrace it, own it, and learn from it 7) You're not going to like everyone you work with, and they may not like you. However, you need to learn how to work with each other 8) Participate in a 401k financial program from your employer on your start date - max the contribution #LGElectronics, #LIFESGOOD

Short observation internship versus long-term internship? 😎 Both can serve their purpose depending on the situation, however I am glad ABB in Baltics sails mostly for the long-term internships. It usually takes a few weeks to start to understand where you are, what are the systems used, who are the people around you (or how to use Outlook, if you've never done it). It usually takes a few months to get that strong practical experience in the industry, and do it independently. For me it took even longer, around half a year, to understand how everything else around my own line of work operates - communication, industry trends, learning and development, dynamics of the team. And yes, long-term time investment and growth absolutely means paid internship! It also means we respect your studies as priority and stay super flexible around hours. If you are someone ready to deep dive, we have an opening in Lithuania in Linas's team 🙌 https://lnkd.in/dSsSghHa

It's kinda crazy when you look back and realize who drastically changed the course of your life. Meet Peter: My friend, mentor & a very average surfer ;) (this is a story about taking a chance on people) In 2012, I completed an internship at Philips. In 2013, a mid-senior-level marketing role opened up. Fresh from my internship, with very little experience and a whole lot of dreams & determination... I applied for the position. The other candidates had 10-20 years more experience. (I mean, can you see the confidence here?) Guess who got the job? Your boy did! 😎 My manager, Peter, saw: ✔️My drive, ✔️My willingness, and ✔️My positive go-getter energy. And took a chance on me. He believed skills could be taught. But drive? Not really. And that is how I ended up as a ↳ 24-year-old, dashing marketing manager at Philips. I worked there for 3 years before pursuing other things. But, Peter and I stayed in touch. ↳ we became good friends. 🍻 Last week, Peter visited Bali, and we got talking. I asked him why he hired me back then. ↳ He said... he saw himself in me. 🥺 (I know, I'll pause for you to wipe your tears) Now, Peter may not know this, but his belief ↳ shaped how I run my business today. → I hire people for their drive. Because like him, ↳ I believe skills can be taught. My friend, Take a chance on people if you have an opportunity. ↳ You'll impact more lives than one. Crazy how the actions you take & the people you meet can shape your future in ways you can’t even imagine. P.S. Are you still in touch with your colleagues from your first job?

After receiving my Internship Completion Certificate from Huawei Technologies Malaysia, I am filled with a mix of emotions—pride, gratitude, and optimism. Holding this certificate in my hands feels like the culmination of months of hard work, learning, and growth. The experience was challenging yet rewarding. There were moments when I was pushed outside of my comfort zone, particularly in adapting to the new technologies and the complex telecom operations domain. But each hurdle I faced was a stepping stone that has strengthened my resolve and skill set. Now, as I look at this certificate, I feel proud knowing that I was able to rise to the challenges and successfully complete the internship. Receiving the certificate also makes me feel grateful for the support and guidance I received from my mentors and colleagues. Their willingness to share knowledge and offer help whenever I needed it has been instrumental in my journey. It’s more than just a piece of paper—it represents the relationships built and the valuable lessons learned during my time at Huawei. I also feel a deep sense of achievement, knowing that this internship wasn’t just about meeting requirements, but about growing both personally and professionally. The technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and industry insights I gained are things that I will carry with me throughout my career. Finally, receiving this certificate leaves me feeling optimistic about the future. It serves as a reminder of what I am capable of, and it boosts my confidence as I prepare to take on the next challenges in my career. With this experience, I am now more equipped, both in terms of knowledge and mindset, to succeed in the tech industry. In conclusion, this internship and the completion certificate are symbols of a significant milestone in my professional journey, and I am excited for what lies ahead. #internship
