🔗 The global economy hinges on five energy-intensive sectors: steel, metals and mining, cement, chemicals, and transportation. These industries form the backbone of supply chains worldwide, yet their emissions also permeate downstream. When heavy industries don't reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions, their customers' Scope 3 emissions rise. Our latest whitepaper, 'Practical Lessons for Decarbonizing the Supply Chain', reveals how five heavy industries have reduced emissions and implemented supply chain decarbonization efforts. 📘 Download the report here >> https://lnkd.in/e_5HdrD5 🔎 Learn about: - How you can use government-backed funding to reduce emissions at your facilities. - How you can contribute to a circular economy by reducing scope emissions at your production sites. - Why collaboration is essential to achieving broader emission reduction goals across supply chains at pace and scale. 📢 Companies highlighted: - ExxonMobil - ArcelorMittal - Cemex - A.P. Rethinking Resources: Closing the Critical Minerals Gap with Recycling The U.S. is taking bold steps to address its reliance on imported critical minerals like copper, tin, and aluminum. By focusing on urban mining—recovering valuable materials from scrap and recycling—the country aims to create a more sustainable and resilient supply chain. This shift isn't just about resources; it's about securing industrial independence, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and mitigating the environmental impacts of traditional mining. What’s driving this change? Massive federal funding is being funneled into innovative recycling technologies, reflecting the growing importance of critical minerals in everything from renewable energy systems to advanced electronics. As market dynamics evolve, this represents both an opportunity and a challenge for the commodity trading sector. At MetagroHolding, we’re at the forefront of these changes, helping our clients navigate the complex terrain of minerals trading. Whether you’re a seasoned trader or exploring opportunities in this dynamic field, staying informed is key to staying competitive. #MetagroHolding #MineralsTrading #CriticalMinerals #UrbanMining #Sustainability #Copper #CommodityMarkets #Innovation #CircularEconomy #GlobalTrade

It’s encouraging to hear companies like Teck Resources and Northern Graphite are successfully achieving premiums based on geography and therefore comparatively higher ESG standards. https://lnkd.in/gj9xqAnJ Such premiums are actually not unprecedented. Since 2017, Rio Tinto has offered its branded RenewAl aluminium that guarantees 4 tonnes or less of CO2 equivalent. Alcoa also has a product line called Sustana that offers less than 2.5 tonnes. These compare to an industry average of 11 tonnes. Both companies charge customers a premium for the metal. These types of premiums will clearly become more prevalent as supply chain requirements evolve alongside tightening legislation and customer mandates. Based on our recent commercial negotiations with major EV makers and battery manufacturers, we can confirm there is appetite for IRA-compliant products that may include quality premiums. #cobalt #batterymetals #criticalminerals #electricvehicles #lithiumionbatteries #criticalrawmaterials #GreenEnergy #CleanEnergyTransition #esginvesting #nometalsnotransition #greenpremium #FutureMadeinAustralia

While mining critical minerals means higher energy consumption for EV manufacture (than for traditional internal combustion engine) , which in turn means a large carbon footprint, EV's offer payback (in terms of emissions) within 25,500 miles assuming newly mined lithium, nickel and cobalt. An additional upside is that about 95% of the key materials can be recycled at the end of the EV's life - at a profit. https://lnkd.in/gvWnzAPG

#Batteryrecycling is becoming increasingly important in Europe due to the Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA), which aims to secure essential materials like #rareearthelements and #lithium critical for the transition to #renewableenergy and #electromobility. The CRMA mandates that 25% of processing waste and end-of-life batteries be #recycled domestically by 2030, reducing the EU's dependency on external sources and enhancing economic resilience. Efficient recycling processes not only support environmental sustainability but also ensure the competitiveness of domestic manufacturers. Moreover, responsible recycling practices address environmental concerns, promoting greater public acceptance of resource development projects within the EU.
