#China's #Navy, also known as the People's Liberation Army Navy (#PLAN🇨🇳⚓️), appears to be altering its deployment strategy for the Gulf of #Aden mission. Traditionally, PLAN task forces have departed China #three times a year, at roughly four-month intervals. Recently, however, this schedule has shifted to extend deployments to #five months. This new pattern means fewer ships need to be deployed each year, reducing turnover time between task forces. This adjustment could enhance the operational readiness of the PLAN and potentially increase the number of ships available for missions in the western #Pacific, indicating strategic implications for #future maritime #contingencies. The Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs (#CMSI) has released CMSI Note 8, which details this change in deployment patterns. The note includes a comprehensive table listing all PLAN task forces deployed to the Gulf of Aden since 2009, with information on deployment dates, fleets, and involved ships, providing a valuable reference for analysts. Dennis J. Blasko, LTC (Ret.), authored the note, which highlights this operational shift. https://lnkd.in/eR9H8Gqa).
