Great to see there is an Australian Government Senate Enquiry into diagnosis and treatment of individuals with rare and less common cancers and the many submission made. The public hearing is tomorrow. While some of the individual patient stories make for difficult reading, and I am sure difficult telling, I thank these people for sharing the truth. It is only by telling these stories that we can bring to life the devastating impact these cancers have and how we must do everything we can to change the prognosis. I was also encouraged to see so many of the submissions bring to life the vast impact Cancer Genomic Profiling (CGP) is having on cancer patient outcomes and as a result many of the submissions are calling for early access to CGP in a cancer diagnosis and for this test to become standard of care in Australia. Every year many promising new cancer treatments are emerging and many of these therapies are molecularly targeted. CGP provides a way to maximize identification of these matches and is the future of precision medicine in cancer. While we may not have a treatment for every type of cancer, we do have many already available. And the technology is ready now, today, to find the patient that matches these treatments. Let’s use it as every life counts! Absolutely agree, Rob, great post. The public hearing spans over 2 FULL days, both tomorrow (31 Jan) and 1 Feb. Omico, through David Thomas, will be contributing on the 2nd day. Let's hope that there's a lot of listening to people with lived experience, to those with scientific and clinical expertise, and to those who have a vision for making CGP and matched therapy an essential and affordable solution in Australia. Of course, along with a real determination to bring precision oncology to every cancer patient in Australia, sooner rather than later.

We will get there Rob McBride - I believed when I had my genetic test 18 years ago, we were on the precipise of some thing that would change healthcare. I’ve been waiting a while to see it come to full fruition 😴- but there is awesome people working in this space… and together- I think we just might make it 👏👏
