Yes, huge thanks to Pierre-Marie for a very clear overview on the role of predictive and generative AI in (Major Donor) fundraising. My key takeaways: 🔷 Dear board members, directors and managers: Stop overthinking and start strategizing, because your employees are already using GenAI tools. (So are your kids, in case you haven’t noticed yet.) AI is here to stay and will change the way we all work. 🔷When you ask the software to help you with your work, bear in mind that it will spill out the answer, which it ‘thinks’ is the most tailored to your needs. You still have to look at it and adjust and feed the software, so that it can help you better next time. 🔷Be aware of biased or fake answers. The tool obviously doesn’t know the truth, but it is confident that it does ;). It doesn’t have self-confidence problems, so challenge its views and pay attention. 🔷Use predictive AI in your organisation! It helps more with mass fundraising, but it also gives you support with individual fundraising. 🔷 Yes, it’s very important to be aware of what you are doing with your data. Integrated AI in your products shouldn’t be able to give the data you feed it with to third-party software. If you use third-party tools, encode/mask sensitive data. 🔷 LLM are great to summarize data from your CRM. This might help you for meetings, phone calls etc. 🔷 This is from me: Just because you know how to ride a bus, it doesn’t make you a bus driver. In my experience, the problem with NGOs is often that they don’t feel it’s necessary to invest in expert knowledge when it comes to tech. I guess this makes a huge difference when it comes to a successful outcome. Thanks again to Pierre-Marie and to our group of dedicated fundraisers for the great discussion. Next week I am off for a YPO organized event to help Lurdes, a disabled woman, summit Portugal’s highest mountain…the stunning Pico volcano (2531m). I have launched a little fundraiser to benefit the foundation that is part coordinating the event. Associação Salvador . Those that know me recently, you know I am all about learning and teaching resilience. I find it so inspiring to be able to help a less able person overcome obstacles to fulfill a dream. Resilience in action. As with these things…it’s less about the challenge and Lurdes’ summit attempt, but the reflection that if we really want something, we can overcome the “disabilities” that hold us back from fulfilling our own dreams. With a small contribution you will not only support a non-profit that does great work here in Portugal, but plant a seed in your brain giving you a further nudge to overcome whatever maybe holding you back…be it big or small. #thoughtforfriday Have you ever noticed there are talkers, and there are do-ers. When I watch the news, all I see, are people talking. Endless volumes of words, about, we will do this..we will do that. We will create this, we will improve that. The bottom line is, these people will not do a thing. Our society is run by the do-ers. Not by the talkers. If you want to see change and real leadership. Step forward and do it yourself. I want to see the creation of a strong, positive, confident, proud generation of people, who embrace our values, and spread our no nonsense, unifying ethos. So I will do it, through the Hold Fast Challenges. With the help of the amazing people around me, who are part of the community we have created. We have hundreds of young people booked in on challenge days now, waiting to be inspired, and many charity challenge days coming up. Today I was saddened to receive an email from The Centre for Global Inclusion stating that they ceased operations in November 2023. Honestly, I'm not sad, I'm ANGRY. For six (6) years, GDEIB provided FREE resources, research and tools to people and organizations all over the world, and they did not receive enough support to sustain operations. Why? Why are we, as a DEIA community so fast to give credibility and support to companies that are performative in their DEIA product offerings? Why did so many people feel great about using GDEIB's resources but not so great about giving any size donation? Why did we take them for granted? Now GDEIB and its vast array of research and resources are gone...
