Findings from a new research project from the Regional Gun Violence Research Consortium (RGVRC) shed light on the needs of individuals impacted by mass public shootings. The project, which collected survey responses from more than 165 people across 48 communities affected by mass shootings in the US, found that social acknowledgment is one of the most helpful resources for survivors and that it can help protect against the negative effects of trauma. Also released today is a video featuring interviews with ten mass shooting survivors from different communities across the US discussing the importance of social acknowledgment in their paths toward resiliency.
