THERE IS SUCH A THING AS AGE-APPROPRIATE MUSEUMS! There's a huge gap between children's museum and just museums, specially for kids age under 5. Only real educators and parents with kids this age can understand the struggle in keeping a child engaged in a museum. If it's not age-appropriate, kids will act out, climb on exhibits, run the hallway, or engage with non-exhibits. I know this first hand when a preschool brought the kids to the science museum with dinosaur exhibits. My 2yo then started climbing at the exhibit table. There was a projection to the wall but the sound was monotonaus and the screen isn't interactive that kids ignored it. Young kids walked from one zone to the other, confused. In the end, children throw tantrums as we go from floor to floor. They sat down to do art, that can be pretty much done in the classroom. Museums are not one size fits all specially if the intended audience are those who can read, as these kids can't read the literature around. Meanwhile, children's museum are designed for kids to learn through play.
