Disappointing to see the Best Airline category dropped from this year’s awards. But, times have changed. The airport and airline proposition use to be very much part of the overall event experience. Private check in desks, upgraded travel, even the quality of the inflight entertainment all part of an attractive travel proposition for event attendees. Now, with budget and sustainability on everyone’s agenda, it’s clear that getting to the destination should be a cost conscious choice and ideally one that fits the clients ESG goals. Travellers have their own smart devices ready to go with Netflix downloaded and personal boarding passes at the tap of their phone. All that said, recognising key organisations and people in the aviation world who provide that much needed support for complex group itineraries, should absolutely be celebrated. Or do the MICE planners feel airlines no longer offer a dedicated support for group and event travel ?
